MITCHELL AND DYER LAUNCH
Fed up with ridiculous rules and regulations, Alex Dyer and Colin Mitchell have set up Mitchell And Dyer, on their own terms.
“We just want to do things our own way, like how we imagined advertising would be when we got into this game. You know, boozy lunches and hot secretaries taking notes. Working for other people we just ended up working late and being told we couldn’t have children drinking in our TVCs. They don’t seem to understand humour,” said Dyer.
With backing from an undisclosed source, Mitchell And Dyer have recently moved into a city premises and are on the look out for clients who are fed up with the way they are treated by their agencies at the moment.
Says Dyer: “With Mitchell And Dyer you can expect cutting edge campaigns and above all some great nights out with the proprietors. We believe this new way of thinking will take things back to the glory days, when advertising was fun.”
Perhaps Mitchell’s words of wisdom sum this up best though “We’re here. We’re not queer. Get used to it.”
Mitchell And Dyer are now hiring.

These two are gods amongst men
You got nothing on me boys. You think you can bring back the old days…You couldnt handle the olden days!! Best of luck.
Tim
‘we’re not queer.’
if you want to set up your own shop, fine. but don’t lie about stuff
I’m in. I can hardly wait. No more retail ads, junk mail or unreasonable clients. Just long “boozy lunches” with awesome clients to talk about their “cutting edge” advertising that rocks… and with hot secretaries taking notes the whole time.
Fuck yes. I’m in. All this and I get paid for it.
Oh, that’s right. Do I get paid? Do we get paid? Oh wtf, it doesn’t really matter anyway. This is advertising like the “glory years.” It doesn’t need to be a business…
Look out Saatchis
Gutsy move, but I can’t see many clients wanting to sign up to an agency that just wants long lunches and getting drunk these days. I think they are about 30 years too late.
Finally, a fresh new agency without the same old names and same old formulas.
Best of luck guys.
Plenty of bravura for an “agency” thats being backed by someones mother.
just when the blog couldnt stoop any lower, we had to bring peoples’ mothers into it.
tut tut
lol @ Dyer.
Good luck guys. I’d like nothing more than to see you two sitting in CIBOS boozing it up, then pissing in the pool, just like the glory days.
A man with dyed peroxide hair shouldn’t be dissing queers.
No I’m not queer.
Nice to see more and more independents opening up at last in NZ. Good luck to you lads. What happened at FCB?
serious question: who ARE you two? Did you once work somewhere else?
I’m with 9.50pm. Seriously, who are these people? What ads have they done? Where did they work? Have they ever won any awards? I’ve honestly never heard of them.
who are they???
You idiots they are Mitchell and Dyer co creators of SONY BALLS, HONDA GRR, GUINNESS EVOLUTION and THE SPEIGHTS GREAT BEER DELIVERY…. SHEESH!
I want a job at Mitchell and Dyer
hot secretaries are all too rare these days… where is the ad secretaries’ blog.. someone needs to give them a good rev up. it embarrasses me every time i see our weird fringe, pie eating, email illiterate slob.
but yeah, good stuff guys. Get on the pipe and we’ll really be back to the glory days!
P.S can you fix axis too?
Don’t know you but good onya, stop working for the MAN and get amongst it.
11:04 – Slightly arrogant aren’t we. Because if you honestly haven’t heard of them they’re obviouly untalented, not worth knowing and obviously going to fail. Most clients aren’t bothered about awards, they just want ads that work. Maybe this is what differentiates them from you. Good luck guys.
Nice that someone’s getting back to fundamentals. If they can put down the bottle/pipe/secretary’s ass long enough to pick up a pen, it might actually work.
Good luck Mitchell and Dyer. Go have some fun why don’t you.
2.17, huh? I didn’t say ‘they’re untalented, not worth knowing and obviously going to fail’. For some reason, you did though. I really do want to know who these guys are. I thought it was a pretty funny press release, just want to know more. BTW good luck boys, whoever you are.
Sorry, you’re wrong 2.17.
If you talk to good clients you’ll find they want ads that work, and they like winning awards too. Obviously, the agency you work at doesn’t have those kinds of clients.
5:31 Backing from Mother? Is that true? Gotta give it to them, they’re gutsy to call themselves Mitchell and Dyer instead of Mother NZ.
I called the number but too late – Greg P has already bought them out!
2.17 is an idiot. Mitchell and Dyer are geniuses.
Good on ’em but the PR shot makes them both look like arrogant knobshines. I’m not sure if that was the look they were intending to go for.
what work have you guys done? Clients? Agencies? Campaigns?
i have a small business in chamonix , pop over for a boozy lunch and lats talk some grass .
Let’s see.
Mitchelle and Dyer.
Catmur and Barnes.
Plus the fellas in the old movie theatre in Kingsland. ..Volvo and Volvo.
A rather crowded creative space don’t you think?
That’s a hoax pr release right? The pr release to top all the other self-serving, pr-addicted insecure CD’s and their sad releases. It’s a joke surely lads?
Well it’s a better angle than “Colin Mitchell and Alex Dyer available for freelance.”
Still can’t beat the blokes who opened an office across the road from Prego’s! Now they are rock’n’roll!
Hey guys,
Thanks for all your words of support. The view is great from up here.
We (Mitchell and Dyer) are having a launch party on Wednesday, so if by some miracle any fit girls read this, please spit us an email (photo required) and we will chuck you on the guestlist.

Love Alex and Colin, the arrogant knobshines.
ahem.
Prime – Weeds Billboards/Las Vegas
SPCA – Doggie Disco ‘A very Silent night’ single number one hit.
Guests at Cannes
just off the top of my head.
any of you guys had a number one hit?
these guys are great, you’d be stupid not to support them.
I hate people who call it “Prego’s.”
MUCKMOUTH???
1.46 If you are the owner of Prego’s invest in some PR, if you are a punter then ‘get a life’
lol @ 40 Comments.
3.21 you’re an idiot.
When I eat at Prego I like to begin with the tuna entree.
After that, I like to indulge with a pot of tea, a bottle of dessert wine, some mash, vine tomatoes, and a little side of cheese.
I’m not much of a dessert eater, but when I do I like to opt for another bottle of dessert wine. Not too chilled. Just right.
12.00pm is the best time to get a seat at Prego.
I prefer sitting outside, on the right as you walk in.
When I visit the urinals, I use the one on the right.
3.30pm is usually the magic hour at Prego. When things get messy.
4.35pm is when the “Let’s roll this lunch into dinner” call is made. It’s a 50/50 call.
1. Your NBR ads and that billboard make you look like bigots rather than ironic.
However…
2. No fucker is talking about that Catpoo startup unless it’s in the context of your launch. So, good, I think.
Catpoo who?
Jello,
Didn’t you usually start with a Chamomile Tea accompanied by the stickiest dessert wine?
From there you usually moved onto the dirtiest red, ending the eve on something like a Becks beer.
I could be wrong.
But those were the days when “Old Blue” paid for our lunch pretty much every fridee.
The industry has changed.
These days we have to rely on Fish to pay for our Prego.
I use the one on the right too. Which is funny because I would normally go furthest from the door.
What was the NBR ad/Billboard? Didn’t see it.
Old Blue. Prego. Sniff. Round the corner to Vermont Street for a smoke. Pinot Wednesdays. Having a sleep on the footy fields at St Pauls. Going home to the wrong flat. Jeez. Wonder if Alex and Colin could use a (not so) old days consultant – you know – just to make sure they’re doing it right. Go well lads – if I bump into anyone from an airline or a bank, I’ll point ’em in your direction.
This is what Auckland/NZ needs – an innovative choice for anyone who wants unique, effective ads. If this is not a publicity stunt in true Anzac Ave style (i’m still a bit wary of this haha..) I think it’s a model of what agencies may need to emulate to land the accounts who target the new youth.. 18 – 45 year olds… aka childless ravers who love retro hip hop and have far too much dosh. Great market.. Attractive.

Love you blokes – Docking Bay Loaded – See you at Suite Bar.

T.V.T
So did your old agency forget to enter the SPCA thing in Axis?
Good luck boy’s, I wish you all the best, just remember to get some work done in between the boozy lunches and firing your secretaries bi-monthly!
Ooh gosh! How fresh. How daring. A pair of self-promoting, ‘oh-so-hip-and-unPC’, chauvanist, middle aged, overweight white men working in advertising. Hold the front page.
I wouldn’t call them overweight.
nice call 9.56, you win.
