Just to break a rotten to the core trend on this site. Well done DDB, awesome win, you’ve been making some great ads, and winning some great awards. Well done Barnes and Catmur on winning the Pizza Hut account, you must be very happy with a good size addition to your new agency. And congrats to Saatchi on setting up your new digital agency, Matt is an awesome score and I think the new office ad is great.
The only two things I hate at the moment is the negativity on this site, and the fact I used the word awesome twice. I cringe when I think clients or the press might read this blog, it’s an absolute embarrassment.
I second that.
The NZ industry is small. There’s an extremely high chance that one day the slaggers will end up working with the people they’re slagging.
Oh, but hang on… that’ll only happen if they’re any good. Which judging by the tall poppy nature of their comments… they’re not.
The first comment is genius.
It’s a very good win. Congrats.
But there’s nothing genius about the first comment 4.11, unless the break in the rotten trend applies to every agency and all people on this site. The people at DDB should read that comment too because they’ve contributed some of the most negative stuff on here this year. Have a look on some of the other stories like the Telecom ad. Give it out there and you’ll get it back here, usually x 2.
So if you wanna declare a truce to get some good comments for the win, you might need to make it two ways and make it last. Don’t do it just for now because you want a bunch of pats on the back.
I really like the idea of a truce. There’s way too much slagging off going on on this blog. It’s tragic that when you visit the Aussie Blog, everyone seems to be way, way nicer about the work and each other. Why is that?
That said, for all the niceties above, the last comment incensed me. I work at DDB – it’s a good agency with nice people most of whom are doing great work – and I am so heartily sick of reading about our agency ‘contributing’ all these negative comments. We don’t make them. That’s the truth. Someone out there is stirring it up and making out that they work at DDB. Just think about that 9:30 before you blame us once again.
It’s a turf war. DD-Killah-Bees reprazent (said whilst I skilfully make the letters D-D-B with my hands). Don’t hate the playaz, hate the ad game.
You have got to be kidding, new in the job or just naiive 7.04. Some people at DDB are even recognisable by their comments. You obviously don’t know them very well or it could be that you’re staggeringly arrogant. And your comment’s pretty insulting – suggesting the industry uses the blog and DDB doesn’t. Yeah right. Exactly the kind of comment that just pisses people off.
By the way, you work at DDB by your own admission, and you’ve just slagged everyone else off with your comment. See what I mean? Amazing you don’t even know you’re doing it. Maybe that’s your problem.
Ahem, 7.04 doesn’t work at DDB. He’s just trying to stir it up.
I talked to a journo the other day about this blog. And yes, the press all read it, and yes, they think you’re all completely bonkers.
11.14 – you’re dead right. The press and clients do read this blog – I’m one – and some of the negativity and poison makes you look like a bunch of wankers.
I heart advertising.
only look like a bunch of wankers?
Could whomever you people all are please shut the fuck up and start talking about something the rest of us are interested in.
I couldn’t give a shit about DD fucking B and people who may or may not work for them. Who fucking cares?
The rest of us are more interested in intelligent comment about creative advertising than the petty bullshit squabbles that are taking over this poor excuse for a blog site.
I vote we disallow any of that kind of irrelevant comment and get back to what we should all be doing. You know what that is.
Now piss off, pull your socks up, get scribbling and make your mothers proud.
That is all.
“when you visit the Aussie Blog, everyone seems to be way, way nicer about the work and each other”
Mate, if you think the Aussie Blog is nice then you ain’t visited it in a while! This blog is like a Catholic Women’s sewing group having a cuppa compared to here.
“The rest of us are more interested in intelligent comment about creative advertising”. Well, why not make an intelligent comment then ‘Mr Man’? Instead of spouting off the kind of negative crap you’re accusing us of. Hypocrite.
Harden up 7.04. you must be talking about your Patchwork Quilter’s blog by mistake.
The Aussie Blog very occasionally shows self-control, but more often delivers the kind of merciless savaging that tears bad work and agencies into little pieces.
It makes the NZ advertising industry look like a kindergarten for ill-tempered kids.
You’re a fool 4.39, a damned fool.
Mr Man is an self-righteous arse and yup a fool
Mr Man usually spews on the blog after a long lunch.
