Kylie Green – a Pirate City roller derby devotee and Digipost facilities whiz – joins as producer in the growing division and is now the main point of contact for quotes, talent and booking enquiries.

Digipost have also signed-off enhancements to their Dolby® certified studios. Major software and hardware upgrades completed recently provide more horsepower and headroom to meet ever-increasing demands of commercial production.

The first challenge for the new set-up was Telecom New Zealand’s XTNetwork ‘Test Drive’ campaign, celebrating the launch of thetelecommunications company’s new high-speed WCDMA mobile service.

The campaign spots – three 60 second commercials plus a pre-launchteaser – were created by Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland team ConnanJames and Craig Farndale. They feature Top Gear hero Richard Hammond ina studio delivering a signature narrative, while one of a selection ofthree well-known kiwi personalities puts the network through its paces.

Kiwi icon and Hollywood stunt woman Zoe Bell is seen travelling thecountry test-driving Telecom’s network coverage. Her scenarioculminates in an adrenalin-fuelled stunt – Bell is suspended inside asteel shipping container and dropped into the heaving Pacific Oceanfrom a helicopter. After the impact, Bell climbs out and calls for awater taxi on her Telecom mobile.

Digipost lead sound designer Clive Broughton and young gun Adam Ilestransformed the relatively organic tracks into a hyper-real audioscape, matching the extraordinary nature of the scenario.

“The results were fantastic”, says Saatchi & Saatchi producer,Richard Mayo-Smith.  “We took the campaign to Digipost because we trustthem, and they delivered creatively and technically.  Time constraintsfor this job also meant long days and the sound guys were incrediblyflexible, working fairly unorthodox hours to get this over the line.”

Adds Broughton: “Every client and every job is important. Whether it’sa large, challenging assignment for long-term clients, or somethingmore compact, we have the ability, experience and resources here todeliver high-quality outcomes.”
