Toybox leaves The Cult

Toybox is about to wrap post on the prime time thriller series ‘The Cult’ for Great Southern Film and Television. Already gaining praise for the cinematography by DoP Simon Riera, ‘The Cult’ is the largest project to be shot exclusively on the Red camera to date in New Zealand. Toybox handled all postproduction including colour grading in Quantel Pablo by Toybox’s Stevie Hight.
Olin Turrall, Toybox’s Post Supervisor, believes this project has helped Toybox to lead the way with RED workflow. “Taking on a project of this size, put huge demands on our resources but I’m pleased to say our system coped easily and we’re now pretty confident of taking on any sized Red project. The combination of Assimilate Scratch and Quantel Pablo gives us a pretty robust DI pipeline for RED, or Film Projects.”
Toybox has already begun post on its next drama, an International mini-series, also being shot on the Red camera.
Toybox believes that the knowledge gained from these types of projects can only benefit their commercial clients. Says senior producer James Hudson: “Toybox is still fully committed to TVC’s and having the benefit of these longform projects is allowing us to build a pipeline second to none so that our commercial clients can also reap the rewards for their projects.”
Expansion plans are also underway at Toybox with more news to come over the next couple of weeks.
