Aussies and Kiwis strike multiple Gold at Caples
TheJohn Caples International Awards honored the very best in directmarketing at Capitale in New York last night – and Australia/NZ ledthe rest of the world in the metal tally.
Shackleton won the Maxwell Sackheim Award for Best in Show for its ‘The village where nothing ever happens’ business campaign, and Proximity BBDO, Belgium, and client Dodge won the Courageous Client Award for their “Baby made on board” consumer effort.
Yellow Pages ‘Treehouse’, via Colenso BBDO/AIM Proximity, Auckland won Gold in the Integrated category and Interactive category, as did Tooheys Extra Dry ‘Six Beers of Separation’ via BMF Sydney. Football Federation of Australia ‘Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Japan’ via Lowe Sydney and Nissan Australia ‘Take the Wheel’ via Tequila, Sydney both won Gold in the Integrated category.
Sony Playstation ‘Resistance retribution’ via TBWA\Whybin\Tequila, Auckland won Gold in the Direct Mail Dimensional category; Queensland Tourism ‘Best Job in the World’ via CumminsNitro, Brisbane won Gold in the Social Media category; Four’N Twenty Pies ‘Magic Salad Plate’ via Clemenger BBDO/Proximity, Melbourne won Gold in the TV/Infomercial category as did Foster’s Australia ‘Bicep Dancer’, also via Clemenger BBDO/Proximity, Melbourne.
Draftfcb, New Zealand, was awarded the Best Copywriting prize for its work on the “Hour-long letter” campaign, while M&C Saatchi/Mark won Best Art Direction for its work promoting Cirque du Soleil.
Adam Good, CEO of AIM Proximity, said it was a great night not only for AIM Proximity but for the wider network. “We are thrilled that for the sixth year in a row, Proximity and BBDO combined to be the most awarded agency network at the Caples Awards.
“It was also great to see the uArt iphone mobile application for Procter & Gamble company take out a Bronze in the Mobile category. This was a collaboration between BBDO New York, Proximity Singapore, DesignWorks at BBDO and AIM Proximity Wellington who developed the virtual facial hair application for Gillette,” said Good.
Nick Worthington, executive creative director of AIM Proximity and Colenso BBDO said it was great to see New Zealand once again performing so well on the world stage: “Once again there was a great showing from New Zealand and we expect this to continue under the leadership of AIM’s new creative director Michael Barnfield, who joined us earlier this month and is already making a big impact.”
The Caples are one of the top international award shows for direct and digital marketing and count towards rankings in The Big Won Report which currently ranks AIM Proximity number two in the world in direct.
There were also several Silvers and Bronze awards for Australia and New Zealand.
