More Saatchi defections as Angus Wardlaw departs creative director gig after only 6 months
In yet another defection from Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland, top creative Angus Wardlaw, who departed CHI, London tojoin as creative director in April this year, has left the agency, and will be on gardening leave for next two months.
Wardlaw was originally brought in to partnerTim Huse, both reporting to ECD Dylan Harrison, but soon after Huse left to take up the CD gig at Sugar. Since then, CB hears the relationship between Harrison and Wardlaw has deteriorated, resulting in the latter’s departure, only a month before Harrison himself departs, just seven months into the job, to take the ECD gig at DDB Sydney.

Saatchi defection or Saatchi defecation?
Tee hee.
How about SAATCHI BUYS DROGA5!
– DAVE DROGA could fix Saatchi NY woes
– NOBBY could help Saatchi Australia with some desperately needed business (he has beer and car clients)
– DUNCAN MARSHALL could prop up Saatchi London with some decent work
– MIKE O back to Saatchi NZ
lot better to go back in this case than the way Saatchi is moving forward currently!!!!
Not so sure the last point you make would be an improvement, 5.13pm.
Things at Saatchi NZ have been heading this way for a while.
Top bloke.
Don’t buy the Dylan relationship nonsense.
More like a victim of the shrinking bottom line.
xx
bang bang
Sad to see good people go and once strong agencies in trouble.
But it’s refreshing to see a story that is honest. None of the usual ‘exploring other opportunities’ PR shite.
So who is left at the Strand?
Matt and Cory for CD
They got rid of a some pretty good people to hire these stars. Actually ‘pretty good’ is an understatement in at least some cases. And those people were NZers or had already shown a commitment to staying in the country more than a year or two.
Angus and the others are obviously top talent. But replacing your entire top level of management with folks from overseas with no experience in or commitment to the market is not always a good idea.
Actually 5.13, as bat shit crazy as that idea is, it would probably be the only thing that could save Saatchi.
They are ALL ex Saatchi.
Droga is the only creative leader that could rally that network into relevance.
Nobby would shake and lunch Sydney back into glory.
Mike O could dodge and weave NZ back on track.
Marshall and Studinski for London.
Big Ted Royer for NY
Although Kevin Robert’s isn’t looking for solutions. Really.
and not a chance in hell droga would sell.
Fun thought anyway.
Well put 8.39
