Ogilvy wins January NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month for Brothersinarms – no December winner
The last month of 2010 was disappointing for the NAB Ad of the Month series with the judges deciding not to select a December winner. “There were some missed opportunities but nothing stood out”.
The December and January Ad of the Month judges were Kim Ellison – Hotfoot, Nic Hall – Ogilvy and Gavin Siakimotu – DDB.
However, 2011 has started well with Ogilvy’s Brothersinarms advertisement for the youth mentoring scheme winning the January award. The judges described the long copy ad as “compelling and eye catching with really engaging copy” – Nic Hall didn’t participate in the final vote.
Credits for the winning ad are:
Agency: Ogilvy, Auckland
Executive Creative Director: Damon O’Leary
Group Heads: Nic Hall & Richard Loseby
Creative team: Freddie Coltart & Matt Williams
Ogilvy’s winning team will receive $250 cash. The ad also appears in the “What’s New” section of AdMedia and becomes a Finalist in the 2011 $10,000 Newspaper Ad of Year competition. Any ad that’s run in any newspaper around the country is eligible to enter the competition. Email ideas@nabs.co.nz for competition details.

Nice to see indents in copy for a change.
why was it a polaroid?
Freddy and matt are doing some great work. Now let’s see what they can do with a client that pays Ogilvy enough to get their logo on the wall in reception.
Yep, done before. D&D some time in the nineties. Those group heads etc would recognise that.
Long copy is worth a shot, but it’s got to be fresh with a twist even.
A two sentence headline. That’s lame.

Long copy on a polaroid – the idea here is clearly ‘retro’.
“A two sentence headline. That’s lame”?

Yes, those two sentence lines have been done done done for years.
Exactly my point. Not bad. Just not fresh.
Only hoping for constant advancement.
Does that make the one sentence headline even more lame?
