The Media Design School presents Plot Point Position, a new digital exhibition at the MIC
City inhabitants and urban dwellers will be offered a chance to cast a fresh eye on their surroundings this April. Plot_point_position is an exciting digital art exhibition which runs from April 9 – 29 at the Moving Image Centre (MIC) Toi Rerehiko gallery in Auckland.
The survey show, hosted by Media Design School, features typography,computer programming, photography, 3D Animation and other innovativepieces from emerging New Zealand digital artists. For more information on the exhibition click here.
As well aswork from tutors, course leaders and advanced students at the school,the exhibition will also feature collaborations with Swisspost-industrial design institute, Hyperwerk.
Plot_point_positioncurator Logan Bradley says the show is a chance for citizens of theconcrete jungle to look at their environment from different viewpoints.
“Thisshow is a chance for people to explore themes around the urbanenvironment – looking at things that are obvious but then also takingthat, manipulating and perhaps even dismantling it to create somethingnew and unexpected. All the pieces featured push people to think in anon-linear way about creativity and how it relates to urbanisation.”
MediaDesign School CEO Frances Valintine says the show is an opportunity fortutors and students at the school to show off their talents to thelarger artistic community.
“We are challenging views about thetraditional role of educational institutes such as Media Design School,and showing them that we are the incubator for the next generation ofdigital artists who will truly bring New Zealand to the world stage,”says Valintine. “It’s not just about equipping students with thenecessary skills to get a foot in the industry, but also making surethat there is constant open dialogue between the school’s tutors andstudents with other artists within the creative space.”
