Hell Cross Buns? Barnes Catmur’s concept for Hell Pizza bound to get some hot and cross
April 20 2011, 10:31 am | | 9 Comments
Barnes, Catmur & Friends worked with Hell Pizza on their latest Easter promotion. The agency came up with the idea of Hell Cross Buns as an antidote to the more traditional Easter Hot Cross Buns. The buns, featuring an inverted pentagram are selling like hot buns at all of Hell’s 66 stores. The promotion is supported by billboards, flyers and online.

God help them.
Vulgar and Offensive – Well put in the herald article on the topic – excerpt and link follows;
“You don’t have to be a Christian to find the Easter promotion by the Hell Pizza chain offensive. On the grounds of its dismal witlessness alone, it is pretty objectionable.”

I’m offended because it’s a blatant lie. Suggesting he was around for a limited time implies he was around.
Good on you Hell and Barnes Catmur, you’re bang on brand. I suggest the only people who will be offended by this will be the ones who insist there’s a big invisible man in the sky. The same invisible guy who makes all the earthquakes and big waves. Hmmm…
I’m cool with it.
yawn
Same of story.
Hell offends the belivers. They make a big noise about it. The media picks up on the story. Hell gets a massive amount of free coverage.
It’s PR baby.
It’s a bit of a stink offer. $40 and get TWO free buns? The craft is shit too.
The only thing this ad proves is you can’t teach old dogs new tricks.
Just another try-hard, humourless piece of crap for what’s become the most formulaic brand in NZ.
Fully agree with 4.42 too.
Trying to offend religious beliefs has become the most ‘yawn, been there done that’ old trick in the book. Funny how agencies can’t stop back-slapping each other for it, while consumers don’t give a toss or even notice it anymore.
