New global Proximity role for Adam Good – to be based in San Francisco from July 1
CB Exclusive – Adam Good will transition from his current role as CEO AIM Proximity Auckland/director of digital innovation Clemenger Group Australasia to executive vice president Proximity Worldwide.
He will based in San Francisco, in the same premises as BBDO West, whose CEO is former Colenso BBDO CEO Brent Smart (below left with Good in San Francisco last month).
In his new position Good will be focused on running new business, managing some major multi-national accounts and providing support to the local North American Proximity teams. He officially leaves his role in New Zealand on July 1.
Clemenger Group CEO Jim Moser says Good has done a brilliant job since his arrival in New Zealand over four years ago: “Adam started as the director of digital innovation for both Aim Proximity and Colenso BBDO. He did a brilliant job helping both agencies dominate in the digital world.”
Since Good’s arrival, Colenso BBDO has twice been recognised as the Interactive Agency of the Year from B&T Magazine in 2008 and 2010. In addition there have been countless digital awards from the Webbys, Caples, Cannes and recognition from many other award shows.
In early 2009, Good was appointed director of digital innovation Clemenger Group Australasia.
Eighteen months ago, Good was given the extra responsibility for AIM Proximity in Auckland. Since that time, Aim Proximity has grown profit significantly including new assignments from Farmers, Visa and other clients.
“With Adam’s incredibly strong digital background, he was the ideal person to lead Aim Proximity into its next evolution. The business is in a strong position today thanks to Adam and his leadership team’s direction”, says Moser.
Good says he has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Clemenger Group: “Moving from Hong Kong to Auckland four years ago was the best decision of my life. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I feel very lucky to have worked alongside some of the best creative, strategic and agency management talent in the world. The chance to now move into the extended Proximity family is something I’m very excited about.”
Good will transition into his new role over the next two months travelling between Auckland and the US.
“We wish Adam and his family great success in the United States. Adam’s continuing role with Proximity Worldwide means that we will continue to have his input and contribution to our Proximity business in New Zealand. That’s a win win for everyone”, says Moser.

Congrats Adam well done. It will be a blast teaming up with Smarty again.
… BUT WILL HE GET A NEW LAPTOP?!?!
I’m sure he’d settle for a new mini bar fridge
There’s a lot of fap fapping in this release. Facts show that Adam will be the only Prox employee in SF, and one of about 30 in the country. EVP is the same role as Group Account Director. It’s a big step down.
But a big step up in cities.
Great move Adam, you’ll love it here.
Good for him.
Wonder what the hookers are like in San Fran?
In that second photo, it’s like Smarty can hear the wails of a hotel fire alarm sounding in the distance.
So what did happen to Aim Proximity? does it still exist? How many people do they have? Surely it’s part of Colenso by now?
Congrats Adam, your contribution to driving forward the digital industry will be missed.
Maybe Smarty can get tips from Duster on how to handle that early morning call from the Porter.
‘Business is in a strong position…” ignores that we have lost Yellow, Vodafone, most of the Air New Zealand account, most of the TVNZ account, another client has given us notice, and Farmers now only work with 99. I will be on reception at this rate.
3:18 – maybe the fact that there is no talk about his replacement / global search underway blah blah answers the question. CEO of what?
Jim has handled this beautifully. Get rid of an expense to a nice sounding job far away. It’s still in the Group so no competitive issues. Nick’s most happy. Everyone else wins to, the clients, the Australian BBDO offices, the staff. Solves the problem of how to kill off the brand too. Nice work all round.
3.58. The die was set for all of that with the previous regime who left the client base in tatters.
Fact is that Adam has done a good job of cleaning up a big mess.
5:28 a mess that was created by chucking all the money up the road for the first 3 years when he was employed by both agency’s, a massive waste of money time and other peoples talent.
5.28 those clients weren’t lost in the previous regime. All of the previous regime have left and gone onto doing better things, whereas aim has been decimated since. Fact. I still work there, but can’t tolerate all these lies. Two years ago we were second best in the world and today we barely exist anymore.
Proximity only exists as a BBDO digital cash machine. It will finally loose it’s heart in San Francisco.
Anyone fancy a tipping contest on when the Aim brand is formally retired?
Here’s my punt: October.
It’s easy to make an agency profitable when you fire all the staff. The books look good for 6 months, before the clients realize your agency has no talent and fires you.
So what’s left? A company that exists only to handle conflict clients. A real shame.
I’m from the San Fran office…
Is there something I should know?
11.02. Who are you? Fantasy man? The previous regime were fired by some big clients. BNZ. Progressives. Yellow. You name it. There was nothing left for Good to be CEO of.
12.27 – How long you got?
Congrats Adam. All the best.
2.17 Too right, they also lost Mt Cook airlines, Trust Bank, PYE and BASF
4:33 hi jim
Zero new business wins in two years. Case closed.
Adam , great work mate, well done. All the best in SF.
Good on you Adam. Haters are going to hate.
Adam does seem to have a lot of haters, wonder why?
