Media Design School students win worldwide at Bees Social Media Awards
Two students at Media Design School’s AdSchool picked up Best Student Brief at the 2011 Bees Social Media Awards in San Francisco last night.
Ben Andrews (art director) and Craig Douglas (copywriter) won the award for their campaign ‘Dreaming in a foreign language’, which they created to a special brief for client Mango Languages.
The Best Student Brief award carries a cash prize of $2,000 (US), honeyand a 3-month internship for the students in San Francisco.
“We’re genuinely over the moon to hear the news,” says winning studentBen Andrews. “Craig and I are both really excited about the placementin San Francisco.”
The winners were announced during an evening awards ceremony at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco last night.
“I’m very proud of the fact that two of our student teams made theshortlist” says AdSchool course leader Kate Humphries. “The worldwidestudent brief was a really tough category. On top of that, our teamswere up against some strong competition from Northern Hemisphereschools who were more than 2/3 of the way through their courses -whereas our guys were only six weeks in.”
Media Design School CEO Frances Valintine says that the school wants toconvey special thanks to industry members, who helped the teams bygiving honest feedback and appraisal. “I especially want to thank TheCommon Room, as well as Anthony and Iain from Special who took time tocome in and critique the students’ work.”
