What started in 1978 as a US-focused awards show, has now become a ‘Gold-fest’ for down-under agencies. In the last few years, NZ agencies DDB, DraftFCB and Colenso BBDO have all taken home disproportionately large hauls of Gold – with AIM Proximity also taking out the coveted Grand Prix.

Says Tony Clewett, the NZ Caples representative: “It’s funny, we get international judges to come down here and pick the winners at our local show, yet talk to anyone overseas and they’re truly envious of the standard of work we’re producing”.

And since nearly everything these days is response-driven, the Caples Awards have never seemed more relevant.

The Awards have a global reach through 45 international chair-persons, and are judged by 60 creative directors who assemble in NYC early November.
