Luscious director Vincent Ward creates giant painted works and underwater worlds in his new exhibition at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery
Vincent Ward’s latest exhibition Breath: the fleeting intensity of life, is a sexy, innovative new media experience which combines large scale art works fused with orchestrated video installations, which are designed to create an immersive experience. These visceral works capture movement and fear in a unique way.
Ward brings his years of experience working in the limitless playground of Hollywood to his art. Pushing the cusp of new media innovation, Ward broke new ground with his Academy Award winning motion painting aesthetic. With a team of technicians, Ward was able to bring actual paint strokes into film to create a living painting. Now he is experimenting with bringing filmed elements into his impressive large-scale works on canvas with awe inspiring results.
These works aim at capturing transformative moments; moments that reach into people’s lives and move them. In this vein of new media exploration, Vincent Ward has also been developing a graphic novel that mixes feature film techniques with graphic art.
