Colenso BBDO’s ‘The Wine is Over’ print campaign wins two NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month awards and MPA’s Glossie award for May
The print extension of Colenso BBDO’s “The Wine Is Over” campaign for DB Export Dry has resulted in two NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month awards (March and May) and now the MPA’s Glossie award for May.
The press and magazine ads highlight the discomfort men suffer at the hands of wine and helps coach them out of wine and into beer – Export Dry beer.
Three titles from the campaign have each won a separate award:
· “In an effort to impress his boss, Bevan disappointed his mouth” – March NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month
· “Sean notes the complex mix of both shame and regret” – May NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month
· “Smells like you’re being an idiot” – May Glossie
May NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month Judge Connan James, from Whybin\TBWA, said: “I love this work. I love the strategy, the photography, the wry sense of humour, the engaging copy.”
Colenso’s insight that many men choose wine at events like weddings, dinners and work drinks to appear sophisticated, when they really just want a beer, has resonated well with many kiwi blokes.
