NZ snack maker and baking icon Tasti pulls out all the Kiwi cliches in latest spot via Contagion

Tasti has been humbly making products kiwis love since 1932. Problem is, no one knew it. Even worse than that, some kiwis even thought Tasti was Australian. It was time they did something about it.
They could have come out boasting about their kiwiness, but that’s not a very kiwi way to do it. So instead, agency Contagion, Auckland created the most ridiculous amalgam of kiwiana cliches ever seen, and said “we’re not quite as kiwi as that, but we’re still pretty kiwi.”

Glad no one found the maoris cooking a white guy on a spit offensive. Just a bit of fun eh bro.
love this
This ad makes me realise just how good the 42 Below ads were.
Personally I resent the way they have destroyed a classic local song and turned it into a pile of steaming kitsch.
Let the astro-turfing commence.
I find it very offensive that the this ‘advertisment’ includes an image of a pakeha woman being cooked on a spit. This is not just a humerous cliche, but is truely offensive to pakeha women and also to the maori people who are being mocked for behaviour which historically never happened.
Every standard of good taste and decency has been breached and I am making formal complaints.
Maybe you should pick up a history book before commenting on things that “historically never happened”.
pretty sure that’s capt Cook on the fire
factually innacurate. cook got cut to pieces by hawaiians, and spread all over the islands. pissed them off with his holier than thou attitude and rooting their women.
im pretty sure horses don’t ride whales either, and plastic tikis don’t drive cars, lighten up adwankers, no this won’t keep any jury up at night, but im pretty sure it will change perceptions and make sell a truck load of snak logs. Isnt that the point in the end of the day? and looking at the facebook commments, it looks to be a hit with kiwis, well done Contagion.
