Visa helps pay Media Design School students’ Visa bills following Visa Innovation Challenge
A tidy sum of very important Visa people including Marco Lamantia, director emerging product & innovation, Kenneth Sippola, senior director global design innovation, and Martin Kerr, senior business development leader flew into Auckland recently from San Fransisco, Australia and Singapore to put the Media Design School student teams through a Visa Innovation Challenge.
The teams had two days to come up with ideas about what the future of payment technology might look like, and then prototype that idea for presentation. to the judging panel.
Says Darryn Melrose, CEO, Media Design School: “Each group was made up of an AdSchool team, a student from our Bachelor of Media Design, another from the Graduate Diploma in Creative Technologies as well as a Year 13 student from a secondary school so it was a huge lesson for all students in working both collaboratively and swiftly.”
The third prize team received $1,000 from Visa; the 2nd prize team $2,500 and the winning team of Jake O’Driscoll, Sylvia Humphries, Gemma Barrows, Mac Teariki and Alice Gibbons won a handsome $5,000 prize and they insist on happily paying off their overdue visa bills.
