Most Kiwis associate family violence with low socio-economic areas. But in reality, it affects everyone, including 1/4 of high-income homes. But no one knew, and couldn’t help. So we partnered with HOME Magazine and created an article showcasing a new designer home in an upmarket Auckland suburb. Developed alongside the editorial team, the article looked and read just like regular content. Almost. The campaign reached over 10X the magazine’s usual readership and resulted in a 15% increase in traffic to the It’s Not OK website.

Kiwi literacy has been slipping over recent times, with 1 in 4 young Kiwis not having read a book in the last year. Bad news for NZ and bad news for book retailers. So, to get Kiwis to pick up some books, we used the one thing every young Kiwi is reading plenty of; Facebook, which if we were honest, is not exactly quality reading material.

ReadOn is a free app for parents that turns every session on a device into reading time. With ReadOn, every time a child turns on the device, instead of seeing the home screen, they are met by the page of a children’s book. And in order to get to the home screen, they have to read it. When they’ve finished the page, or more if they choose, they answer a simple question and the device is unlocked. All the while, parents can monitor the child’s progress – how much they’re reading, how fast, and how long they’re spending on the device.
