Header: Lets get a few things sorted.
Long time reader
First time blogger
Dear Mr Anonymous.
Firstly, the CoastGuard print ads were signed of by the CEO of the New
Zealand Coastguard. Making it a legitimate campaign not a scam, as a certain
finger pointer out there would like everyone to think.
Secondly, this campaign was developed into its current form as a team. If
you have any questions you can contact Nick Worthington, Janelle Shearer,
Andrea Price, Derrick Kim or myself directly. (915 6656).
Everyone worked really hard to get this campaign off the ground and
produced. If you don’t like it as an ad, fine that’s up to you. Give your
opinion and a reason why you think it’s bad but please don’t try and destroy
it for a bit of fun.
I haven’t bothered to comment before, as everyone involved knew the truth. I
have been prompted to comment after reading how nasty this whole site has
become. It’s turned from a site of people talking about ads to personal
assassinations.
I know this site will remain Anonymous, I myself will always use my name.

(the actual Karl Fleet even though I have read many posts which have used my
name.)

I’m Karl Fleet and so’s my wife!
That’s a good one bro. Tell us your name so we can congratulate you personally for such a quick and witty comment.
I’ve got some of those plastic twisty things you tie the fruit bags with at Foodtown. Can you please write me a scam ad for them, I think something to do with handcuffs and Amnesty International is a good starter. As for the CoastGuard, sure, it’s clean and legit. But what about the four page wave ad?Can you please tell me if the client paid for all the media, the retouching, the photography and the concept fee? I doubt it. Everyone realises that Mojo doesn’t play on a level playing field. It’s not a business. It’s a charity. Case closed.
Karl Fleet may be many things, but a dirty ginga he is not. Just thought I’d point that out.Karlos Fleetino.
You need to lighten up. Take away the bitching, the nastiness and the personal assassinations and what are you left with? Earnest adfucks propagating their own agendas and egos, and having a wee cry like you’ve just done. The only fun left in this godforsaken business is to not take it so seriously. And I can’t give you my name because you might fire me!
Dear Mr Anonaymous. The 4 page ad you are talking about was a great ad. Done by Seymour and Josh. Coastguard paid for the entire ad. They had to hire a helicopter to fly out into the harbour to shoot the waves. Yes Coastguard paid for this. It ran in boating magazines. Yes Coastguard paid for the media. So to answer your questions yes, Coastguard paid for the ad. On the Plastic twisty things. It’s a good start bro. New media. Have a play could be good.
Boo hooo I am having a wee cry. If standing up for a campaign that is getting slammed for no reason is having a cry. I don’t think so.I agree. Advertising is always going to be bitchy. This is what people log onto this blog to read. It will always be this way. I also agree a load of people take advertising too serious. They are just ads. Some win awards, some don’t, some sell shit loads of products, some don’t.I don’t agree that people can’t stand up for their ads and defend them. (or having a wee cry)If you think the only fun in this industry is to make personal assassinations you need to get out more bro. Don’t get mad, get inspired.
Nah…personal assassinations are more fun!
Thanks Karl for that segue into my inspirational and motivational book ‘Sisomo.’ I picture Sight, sound, and motion coming to gether on the big screen. It’ll be motivational, inspirational, and uplifting to boot. Check out http://www.sisomo.com – thanks guys. X X KR
Coastguard are basically a charity client. They are not funded by the government. If Mojo can do some good ads for them for free then great, because that’s how charity works. And there’s nothing to stop anyone else in any agency doing the same thing. There’s plenty of worthy causes and struggling businesses out there that would love to have access to guys like us – but can’t afford it.Sure you don’t make any money, but it’s piss easy to do good work for clients like this because they just appreciate you helping them out. On the whole they tend to be nice people too.
and that, Darryl, is why you’re one of the best in the biz. You get it. Good on ya. Who gives a shit about the rest of the moaners anyhow. Let ’em wallow in their own insecurities and lack of ideas and, as per, those who can ignore the tall poppy bashers, get on and do better than the rest. Full credit to the agencies that aren’t just full of their own self importance and actually look to the bigger picture.
‘agencies that aren’t just full of their own self importance’Name one…
Hahaha anon genius I don’t know one agency that isn’t “Full of their own self importance” The whole reason they do charity work is to win awards for some scam idea they had. So the Agency can get some “Self Importance”
And helping underprivileged children and working towards world peace.
You say scam ad.I say clever work that the client and public appreciate. You call it a scam is that because:It didn’t work? – NoIt didn’t run? – NoOr just because you didn’t think of it? – hmmm yeah.Sure the agency may get some kudos for doing it but at least they are doing it and not bitching about it on a blog. All you moaners and haters suck.On Ya Fleet. On Ya Parsons.Long live the idea. Was that really Kevin Roberts?
Did it work? I suppose that depends on how many boaties saw it. Maybe heaps maybe one I don’t know. Paying for charity stuff yourself is fair enough, its kind of like giving to charity. Call it a scam when it only runs once.I liked the idea though.
Who WAS that twat?
Charities are different. Every idiot knows that. Who wants to charge a charity money and sleep at night.Different kettle of fish when it’s a client that should pay but doesn’t.
There’s a thriving charity parasite industry that doesn’t have any qualms about ripping it in to them. Banks, lawyers, accountants. There’s some frightening stats about how much charitable donations have sucked out of them before it gets to those that deserve it. Makes ad agency’s look like saints.
I don’t know which Mojo employee was masquerading as the CEO of Coastguard when you had these ‘signed off’ but then perhaps it never really happened? Granted; charities need all the help they can get but you haven’t even put any thought into what you are trying to communicate. The said ads direct you to the Coastguard New Zealand website to “check the weather forecast”. Correct me if I’m wrong, Karl, but http://www.nzcoastguard.org.nz doesn’t even have a weather forecast feature or page – just a link to the Met Service page and this link is difficult to find in itself. Clever, but not very smart
does the link give you the weather forcast?Yes.I think your are streaching mr Anonymous. It is getting really really boring mate. Let it go, let it go. Is this you again Catmur?
I had a look.it’s really hard to find, not!!! click on Marine Forecasts in redon the main page.Make me head of CSI i say. Also the half page story on the weather on the main page with click through also helped.New Weather Channel for West CoastWeather Channel 22 is now available for the Kawhia/Raglan area north to the Manukau Heads. This station will provide continuous weather and tidal information, Nowcasting service, and relevant area messages.
Mike’o, Toby Talbot, Paul Catmur, Nick Worthington, Richard Maddocks, David Droga, Tony Granger etc etc, you’re all two bit hacks, talentless cock munchers, inept nothings masquerading as creative geniuses. I shit in your severed neck holes. Why? Because being anonymous means I can talk nasty about anyone I want and get away with it.This blog sucks shit.Lynchy, it’s time it got honest(names) or got switched off.Put it to a vote. With names, one name – one real email address – one vote.Make it constructive, make it smart, that’s what we’re suppose to be about.PS: Kevin Roberts can lick my ring.
Ummmm….Lynchy doesn’t really have anything to do with this blog, Apart from reading it now and again and sharing a bit of stuff, Honest. This is all our own poison guys. And gals. Inteersting posts. Now… let’s talk about ads. Good ones. Seen any? I’m sure you have/ Do share. That’s the point. That’s what this blog is really here for.( Kevin Roberts is not getting anywhere near my Lovemark)Frenchy,On a yacht right next to happiness.
I agree nzcreativecircle (who ever you may be)On a positive note. I think McDonalds are doing some nice stuff at the moment. Small change is funny and the socccer one is very sweet.
eew. Karl! The soccer one is sweet if you are into holding hands with small boys.Agree on the small change one but.
Righto, Karl and your piece of shit CSI detective friend. If you were to check your facts you will find that the site you are referring to with weather etc. is the Coastguard Northern Region website, which is at http://www.coastguard.org.nz. And a very nice site it is. But if you go to the site described in the piece of shit scam ads, you’ll find yourself at http://www.nzcoastguard.org.nz – the New Zealand Coastguard site. Check it out, there’s fuck-all mention about weather there. So I do apologise for the mistake I made in my last post – you are neither smart, nor clever.
got to agree with previous poster – I can’t see any info. Also, maybe the clients money would have been better spent making this site not look so crap.
mate if you are so angry about the adsgive me a call.915 6656.On the site click on “safty tips” and the “check the weather.” I made a mistake on my last post. sorry.
ouch…
Yes Karl, a link (which is difficult to find) which takes you to the Met Service page, sackrash. Not clever, not smart, and still a scam-artist
ouch…
At http://www.nzcoastguard.org.nz if you click on ‘Safety Tips’ you go through to a list of tips. One of them is to ‘Check the weather’ but it comes up with a bung page ‘Oject not found!’ Someone should tell them.I’ll head out in my tinnie anyway…
Christ!!!Talk about petty…I’ll admit that I originally thought there were some grey areas surrounding this whole thing but after reading all this bullshit I’m so fuckin’ over it that I really don’t give a toss.I agree with Karl, if you’re so bitter about it, give him a call and discuss it like grown humans.
Why don’t all you hating bitch ass punks. Do some good work of your own and stop trying to discredit this. It was all started by a nasty rumour. The ad ran it was paid for so get over it you fuckers. I don’t even work at Mojo and I am sick of this shit. What a bunch of wankers. You guys should be suits because you don’t seem to be very creative at all. Let it rest you boring, scathing, little boys.Word.
Suit trying to be crucial alert.
I’m not a suit but I may be your boss.
Uh oh. Now you’re really in the shit
Karl, can you tell me where the ads were published? I’d like to cut them out and keep them in my collection of clever ads
Where were they published Karl? Come on Karl, where were they published, Karl?
They were published in Campaign Brief magazine.
Karl, they’re tugging your wire old chap.
Thanks to Karl for fronting on this blog. Not an easy thing to do. Correspondence on this is now closed, pretty muvh. Time to move on.
bitches.
I agree nzcc, like most people I’ve had a go here, but purely for sport. But I do agree, nice to front up to the shit Karl.
I agree also. It was nice of him to front up with a fictitious story about a fictitious ad
I reckon Karl, of the “why don’t you front up with your name” fame has flicked a few anonymous ones in to augment his own nefarious machinations.
I doubt if he’s that clever
