Y & R on the piss again

Y&R has won the Bacardi- Martini business.
In a press release, Y&R effectively said the global allignment of this global account to the Mother network gave them sufficient confidence to approach the local distributor, Glengarry Hancocks, and Robert’s your Mother’s brother.
Brands include Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose Vodka and Dewars.
The Y&R bar should be a lively place on Friday nights. And Mondays. Tuesdays…

Great, I hope they are ready for some effectively average work.
They must have won it on the strength of their Burger King “monkeys” campaign.
How wrong was that!
… deeply, deeply wrong. That campaign should be a case study on how not to do a campaign.
Good on them, although that account is more pain then pleasure.
At least they can drink to forget.
That monkeys campaign looked like it was created by repressed 11 year-old boys with attention deficit disorder.
I can just see the brief that came from the planners – We’ve done some exhaustive research in the boardroom after work with some chippies and coke and pizza, and when people think burgers, they think humanised simians. What was actually said was overheard from a very disinterested participant who mumbled under his breath “These people are a bunch a fuckin monkeys”
I think youll find LOOP recordings are the creative and they latched on to Y&R kind of like what Assignment did with JWT. Y&R will just be pushing the buttons…
Huh?
Yeah, but Y&R might be making money out of the ventre. But, that’s just what I overheard at the Northern Club.
There were monkeys pushing buttons in the ad and the ad agency. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Nah, a monkey would’ve come up with a better campaign than that.
I think you’ll find, although fictional, they more resemble apes than monkeys. The ape superfamily includes: gorillas, chimps and humans, and do not have tails. Calling an ape a monkey is like calling a pig a sheep. The guy who used the term “simians” was right on the money. Simians include both monkeys and apes. Well done George.Grant
Bravo to that comment. Chimps are not monkeys. And while we’re on the topic, polar bears are nver found with Antarctic species like penguins.
What’s this about Loop Recordings?
I only used the term simians because I like the sound of it, not because I’m that clever. House Industries have a font called simian that was developed for the planet of the apes film. I’ve never got it working myself, a bit hard out for me. It’s a real shame because it comes with some great ligatures. http://www.houseindustries.com/index.php?page=showfont&id=24 I have the wallet.
So true. You know what else? I’ve never seen a homeless person sleeping under newspaper, or in a cardboard box. That loop recordings thing doesn’t make sense. Please explain yourself “Anonymous at 11.32”.Grant
Y&R and creative.Now there’s a few words you don’t often see together.
Yeah Grant.
Jeneal and a primate. I’d pay to see that. And Grant, if you want to be anonymous, don’t sign your name at the bottom.
Really?Grant
Grant get back to work. It’s that thing you do in front of your computer and it’s the reason that money thing goes in your account every month.
Monkeys are funny. So is Grant.
BTW shouldn’t the title of this post be: ‘Y&R take the piss’?
I’ve heard Bacardi has a budget the size of the corner dairy…
