Idealog #3 out now

Idealog, the voice of the creative economy, is now three issues old. Issue three cover story is all about Generation C and the emergence and convergence of democratic digital media – everyone is a multi-media creative it’s only going to get more so. There’s a how2 article about getting cash without giving away control and how important it is not to let success stop you. Idealog also has an especially useful website:

I’m sorry, but the last issue was better.As for David McG, get over advertising. Please. For your own sake.For fucks sake, the world has moved on since the last time you were denied that chance to ‘prove yourself’ in a mid-level agency.I thought thart the mag needs to take over the reins from ‘Blood’ mag as the place to put your semi-scam tomato-sauce style ads.
Ahh good, the slagging has started. As they (idealog) said, it is the difficult third issue, but it’s still a useful thing and nzcc feels we should support it. Issue 4 is being put to bed now…
6.58pm, sounds like the reason you’re talking sh*t is because you have your head up your arse. The fact that David McG is co-producing a magazine and doing a whole lot of other stuff that you’re probably ignorant of, demonstrates that he HAS moved on. You’re not a failed magazine publisher, are you…?
I like it, Broad perpective. They should feature more work though. Like the brillianr not scam tomato sauce sachet (wanker). Plus design work, short stories, art, etc etc…
For what it’s worth I think Idealog is pretty good – and even though some people may disagree with what David McG has said in this months column, I thought it was spot on. Right-oh. Ten cents over.
McGregor’s column got me thinking.Maybe he’s right? He didn’t slag the people in agencys, sounded like he had our interests at heart to me.Never met him but I know people who have worked with him and they say he’s a good bloke.
He’s only been slagged off on here, and let’s face it. If you let getting slagged off on here get to you you’ve got issues. I can say ball sack mother fuck cunt sticks. And no one knows it was me. There are plenty of misguided assholes ready to put people down. It’s heartening knowing none of them would be let in the door at a real agency like mine. People slag you off for miss spelling and punctuation. Fuck, it;s a blog, some of the other ones I’m got to have some very illerterate people on them. It’s not a spelling bee, but a place where people can speak their minds. Anyone who puts a mag out that’s aimed at us should be congratulated. Not slagged of by some cunt angry at churning out bank ads.
I quite like bank ads.Why couldn’t the pigs be fluffy tho?Making them shiny makes them cold and unreal. Other than that I like them.
David MacGregor took a punt on me in 1990 when other creative directors wouldn’t even look at my book. Now I hire people and his sayings come back to me as I do. I haven’t stayed in touch with him but I have watched what he has been doing. He never gave a shit for pretty pictures masquerading as ideas and when i read his magazine I can see his fingerprint all over it. He was difficult and I get the feeling he still doesn’t have any big desire to ‘fit in’ but I admire his courage. He has always had the guts to quit. And he has always stood up for the idea over execution. I read the areticle in Idealog and felt he is on our side.
I reckon its a better than average effort, some interesting stuff in there, prob more relevant in many ways than ad media. I mean, I know it’s a tough ask putting out a mag every month about a cottage industry but for fucks sake – they would have more credibility if they didn’t choose the worst ad in what’s new as ad of the month – every month.

As I have said, without any malice, in my column in Idealog magazine that people in advertising need to make the jump to the next step (or be left behind -“If you don’t like change, you will like irrelevance even less”)b) We love to see outstanding ideas in our magazine. Not sure if scam ads really serve any purpose, other than consuming resources.We are also happy to collaborate with you and your clients to think of innovative ways to promote…The door is open.And finally, Idealog celebrates commercial creativity.It is the magic ingredient of business.The users of this blog, I guess, depend on it for their living.
