GUINNESS ‘TIPPING POINT’, VIA AMV BBDO LONDON, SETS OFF A CHAIN REACTION

A chain reaction from Guinness! The latest in the series of ‘Good Things Come to Those Who Wait’ ads, ‘Tipping Point’, via AMV BBDO London, was directed by Nicolai Fuglsig of Sony Bravia ‘Balls’ fame. ‘Tipping Point’, part of a £10million marketing campaign, is the most complex and expensive to produce Guinness advertisement ever. A celebration of community, the ad sees hundreds of villagers come together to create the ultimate domino effect, featuring 6,000 iconic black and white dominoes, alongside thousands of unexpected toppling objects.

What a great, big, expensive yawn.
Next.
I don’t see the connection between Argentina and Guinness…??? Surely the concept would have had more relevance filmed in some twee Irish village?
It’s like that boring honda ‘cog’ ad only more boring. I was waiting alright. Waiting til the fucking thing was over. I want 60 secs of my life back.
Just shows, you can spend one trillion dollars on comercial and it can still be shit. Funny old game, advertising.
First they claim the Falklands, now an Irish village.
More to the point what has it got to do with NZ advertising, which is what, presumably, this blog is about?
Cog, Sony Walkman, Orange – Yawn
yeah nah..
Guiness is running a vaguely interesting viral/online/whateverthefuckyouwannacallit thing at the moment. Like playing Carmen Sandiego across the internet. Or Myst. Too intellectual for me. I couldn’t crack the first clue – http://www.guinnesstipping.com/ This ad sounds like it might be part of it, I can’t be arsed clicking thru. Embed it here.
Sometimes even a good director can’t save a shit idea. What a let down.
Still, I’d rather have this on my reel than all my retail 15 sec spots and Promo POS…ain’t NZ advertising great…
8:56 – Please drop me an email – rollyhayhay@gmail.com – cheers. (seriously)
haha you guys are all a bunch of wankers – it’s a kick ass ad and you’re all just dark you weren’t able to be part of it.I was going to say, “If you have nothing nice to say, STFU”… but then this would be a very very quiet place.
