Just one word. Scam.
You know who you are.
“Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre”?
What the hell is that?
Scam.
Colenso, you should be ashamed. That’s a shocker.
This is even worse than the scam Hanui Stud Farm stuff from fellow NZ BBDO agency Aim Proximity.
What’s up guys, can’t you hack it with real, paying clients?
Clemenger did Omaka (not Colenso) and it was a great idea… Are you familiar with it or have you made assumptions that it’s a scam based on the client name?
Can’t believe gingerbread haka didn’t get in.
Scam is a very abusive word to just throw around. I also think that this sort of b/s is largely written by adschool and AUT students that are depressed at not getting any finalists themselves. If you want to see scam I suggest you go to SIngapore. That place is shocking. From my view there are only two slightly iffy pieces that got accepted this year which means, from me, well done to the b’stards who did the other 15 pieces.
I really think some of you bloggers need to pull your heads out. Why should Colenso be ashamed? It’s a great idea. Where is the rule in the Award shows that says all ideas have to be for big clients? It’s great when they are but the judges are awarding this idea at many shows if you haven’t noticed. Why? Because they are looking for new IDEAS. This was a new way to use outdoor that they hadn’t seen. And that’s what everyone overseas will think when they see it. One day when you get on a jury you’ll get it.
Also, if you hadn’t noticed, Colenso do tons of good work for tons of big clients.
And no, I don’t work there. I don’t even live in bloody NZ. Just like to check in every once in a while to see if you’re all still whinging.
It’s a real client and it’s Clemenger’s, not Colenso’s. The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre is Peter Jackson’s museum. The idea was really cool. They sent real carrier pigeons to the billboard in Wellington from his the Aviation Centre because that’s how pilots communicated from the Front Lines in the First World War. Got lots of publicity for the museum which it badly needed.
Colenso aren’t alone. Try and recall where you’ve seen any of theDDB work. Can’t remember? That’s cos you haven’t. Or maybe you saw it once at midnight just before an award show or two.
6:25, 8:21, 9:30 & 10:20…. can you please announce yourselves? Seriously?
Oh, what’s that? Your one month placement is almost up and publicly (and naively) criticising these people could result in you getting blacklisted from this and other agencies?
Is that the problem little one?
Is it?
Ahhhh, the sweet sound of silence… good work 11:41 you shut the fucker up.
11.41 and 5.59. You’re talking to one month placement kids and look at what you’ve just shown yourself to be. Bullies. Nasty cowardly bullies. Too gutless to say who you are, but you can point the finger at some newbies. If they’re fuckers, then you’re a piece of shit and a bad ad for the industry. And There are only one or two agencies in town known for bullying…you’ll be at one of them and the newbies wouldn’t want to work there anyway.
1:07 (et al):
I don’t think anyone is bullying you. Hell, apart from the fact you write like a student nobody even knows who you are. They are just sick of your ill-considered, inconsistent, and badly written arguments. You’ve tried out your voice. You have got a response. You are now upset. move on because all you’re doing is pissing people off and it possibly jeopardises your chance at getting a job. In fact so long as you are anonymous and continuing the way you are, you are giving all juniors a bad name.
For your own sake, please, cease and desist.
I completely agree with 9:51am. I think D Bell and P White should have a chat to the adschool students and tell them to get off the blog. This thing is just becoming an uneducated rant session for intern creatives.
You are a twat 9:51. I am 1:07 and didn’t write any of the above comments, other than the observation about you being a bully. As for jeopardising my chances of getting a job, that’s not going to happen – I already have one thanks and I’m perfectly happy with it.
So don’t bother offering, I wouldn’t want to work for you. My comment at 1:07 was merely pointing out that you live in your own fantasyland – you assume that everyone wants to work for you regardless of what a prick you’re showing yourself to be.
Why not just allow young people to express their opinions. I’m sure even an old fart like you was young once. And hopefully you weren’t bullied into silence like you’re trying to bully people now.
6:32pm – This is somewhere past 8pm at night and still at work. I’m not 9:51 or 1:07 or any one else that has been labeled here. But! I completely agree with 9:51. Sure 6:32, you have a credible point too, but I have to be honest, I come to this blog for information primarily, followed closely by reading all the gutter sniping. This is fun. Sometimes I even join in. However, especially over the last year, I have to trawl through more and more inane and uneducated comments. Comments that you know have been written by juniors / interns just because of the amount of spelling errors or the fact that some comments try to talk about a certain aspect of the industry that they are clearly wrong on. I have nothing against people joining in, but the amount of stupid and quite plainly vitriolic comments on this blog makes me not only angry at the people who should be doing good work instead of writing drivel, but bored as well. I’m not a big name in this industry, so maybe this sort of preaching is unwarranted, but I think a bit less nasty blogging and a bit more interest in ads and our industry might serve some of the schaddenfreudes well.
Well said.
Sadly 10:32, you will find some of the biggest Schadenfreudes are some of the oldest and most seniior in the industry. So don’t just look at and blame juniors. Start looking at some of the so called leaders too. Even the old ones have learned how to type: http://www.campaignbrief.com/nz. And some of them are just protecting their patch…maybe like 9:51.
Can someone just have a decent punch up. this is all so gay.
Paul, what are you doing on the blog? there’s work to be done in your agency. Repco mailers don’t write themselves.
Are you a raving queen 7:43? That was a very bitchy comment. What’s your trouble? Stuck on a headline for that next Brsicoes mailer you’re doing at Ogilvy?
Personally I’m not sure which is worse. The vitriol that’s spewed up on the blog from time to time or the vomit-inducing press releases from some insecure big-names who should know a lot better. Come to think of it, I’d rather read the vitriol. It’s a lot less offensive than blatant and gratuitous self-publicity.
You make a good point 10:32 but you’re also missing the point. The crap that happened on the blog over the last year isn’t about juniors having a go. It’s about aencies behaving badly…more than usual…dissing some good people. In the bad old days of the 80’s, you could do that shit and nothing happened…people disappeared and everyone said nothing out of fear. Today the advertising industry has the blog. It’s had a few eruptions over the last year. The comments are pretty meaningless, but the actions that started them in the first place are not.
