Come on blah blah, they’ve taken the opportunity to create an interesting and well art directed newspaper ad. Could be worth ten grand even.
I put it to the agency I’m working at that Black Friday was a creative vehicle. We did nothing.
I get the newspaper every morning and every morning I skim through it and every morning my eyes, by and large, glaze over at the banal shit that our industry calls advertising.
Except for this day. I saw this ad. I don’t know why but it stopped me and it drew me in and I read it and I smiled. Which, I imagine, is what they intended.
So hats off to them. It’s a bloody good ad. I’d be proud to have done it and I’m picking that any one of the naysayers here – just secretly – wouldn’t be averse to having it in their book.
Couldn’t agree more, Jim. It’s a decent, topical, well art-directed ad. Just can’t get over why people feel the need to diss others anonymously. If you feel so strongly about something, come out and say it with your name under it.
I would like to see if ‘Mr. Blah Blah’ can write something that wins the NAB ad of the month over this ad.
I’d have thought people got the message with that ‘Anonymous’ invite Mick and Sarah did last year.

I agree – I like it. It’s topical and well-written, particularly the intentional repetition and overuse of plosives in the “dropped pies, black cats” line.
if you find it hard to read how can it be well art directed ? or were you being smarmy like everyone else? it’s Ok – they got off their arse and got an ad away. whatever.
it’s their fuckin’ job.

Blah blah just like the Vodafone daylight savings one only crapper.
yep
I wish this comment could be typeset as prettily as that ad. Then I could enter it in an award and hope no one notices there’s no idea.
there are similarities, but a genuine insight nonetheless.
i like it.

I like it, although It’s bad luck to run an ad like this on Friday 13th.
Was this copy written on Friday the 13th?
Feels like the writer was having a terrible day.
Ad school stuff.
Spend Friday reading a book? Creatives must be nerds
When did Booksellers have a marketing budget for brand – yet alone one to approach Saatchis?

Well art directed – I felt it was a bit hard to read.
Scaffolding gives way, drivers don’t…
gave me a smile.

Smarmy? If you say you like an ad it’s called being smarmy?
Feels like a scam that was trying to find a client for a home.
It’s not their “fuckin” job to do proactive ideas. and use some capitals you COCK.
OK: GET FUCKED
Plosives and frictives count for nothing if you can’t get past the art direction and read them.
