Morgan, Ferrier, Hartley added to Caxton line-up

MORGAN-ROB.jpgAdam-FERRIER.jpgThe2009 Caxton Seminar has announced three more high-calibre speakers forthis year’s weekend event: Clemenger Group chairman Rob Morgan (farleft), CumminsNitro Brisbane joint creative director Nancy Hartley andconsumer psychologist and founding partner of Naked Communications inAustralia Adam Ferrier (left).

 

They will join keynote speakersannounced last week, JWT creative chairman of continental Europe andLatin America Fernando Vega Olmos and Publicis Mojo’s new chiefcreative officer Craig Davis, in addressing the Seminar to be held fromOctober 23-25.

Rob Morgan joined Clemenger in 1979 as an account executive and becamea director of the agency within just five years, was appointed managingDirector of Clemenger Melbourne only five years later and becameExecutive Chairman of Clemenger Group Limited in 1998.

 

During his career, Morgan has steered the advertising andcommunicationsfor many of the world’s greatest brands, and has been pivotal inestablishing the Clemenger brand as synonymous with creativity. Todayhe is one of the most experienced and lauded figures in the Australianadvertising industry.

 

Nancy Hartley began her career as a copywriter at Clemenger Brisbane.Prior to joining CumminsNitro in its infancy in 2006, Nancy won localand international accolades through work done at BCM and before that,McCann Erickson Brisbane.

 

Under her stewardship, with joint creative director James Burchill,CumminsNitro Brisbane has more than quadrupled in size, and this yeartook its reputation to new heights, winning numerous gongs – includingthree Grand Prix at Cannes – for its “Best Job In The World”campaign for Tourism Queensland.

 

After leaving university with degrees in Commerce and Psychology, AdamFerrier began his career working as a forensic psychologist in amaximum security prison.

 

Switching his interest from understanding criminal behaviour toconsumer behaviour, he completed his Clinical Psychology Thesis in’Identifying the Underlying Constructs of Cool People’, and for a shortwhile was a global cool hunter. He worked as a strategic planner atSaatchi & Saatchi before opening Naked Communications in Australiain 2004.

 

Commenting on the speaker line-up for the 2009 Seminar, Caxton ChairmanRob Belgiovane said: “With our theme of ‘Creativity as a Currency’ wecould not have asked for a more compelling group of speakers this year.They will all bring a different and exciting perspective to this year’sevent thanks to their wide experience and knowledge.”

 

He added that further speakers would be announced in coming weeks, including one top name from New Zealand.
