NZ-BAND-2.jpgBattle of the Ad Bands 2, held last at the infamous  Kings Arms gave aspiring musicians a shot at instant fame without the fortune.

Congratulations to Account Dracula – .99 (pictured) on taking out the grand prize, which included a $1,000 lunch at Prego, their song recorded at Liquid Studios, a music video produced by Flying Fish, and an Auckland City Billboard boasting their win thanks to Omnigraphics.

Judges, Peter Urlich, Joel Tobeck and Paul McKessar, reactions were ofamazement at the talent on offer.  The phrase “blown away” was heardmumbled on numerous occasions.

The level of competition this year was  significantly up on last year(has the recession meant more practice time?). There were notably solidperformances from Louder & Louder – Saatchi & Saatchi, FriendsElectric – Barnes, Catmur & Friends, and last years champsBitchhiker – TBWA\Whybin. The Hathaways – Ogilvy had an awesomeperformance taking out second place and collecting the $500 bar tab atthe Ponsonby Social Club.

Well done for the Harmen Kamsteeg from Saatchi & Saatchi’s Louder& Louder, who took out the individual prize for most outstandingperformer. He wins a solo flight in a Cessna, with an instructor, thanks to Red Balloon.

A massive thanks to Amanda at CAANZ, James Moore at Flying Fish asco-organizer, Prego, Redbull, The Radio Network, The Russian StandardVodka, Steinlager Pure, The Much Moore Icecream Company, the KingsArms, Liquid Studios and Rocket Rentals.
