AIM Proximity farewells CEO Darryn Melrose
AIM Proximity New Zealand will be bidding farewell to CEO Darryn Melrose in September as he leaves to pursue new opportunities after a successful six years with the agency.
Under Melrose’s leadership, AIM Proximity has continued its reputation as New Zealand’s largest and most awarded direct marketing agency, currently ranked as the number one direct agency in the world, according to The Won Report.
Clemenger Group CEO, Jim Moser, says Melrose has made a massive contribution to AIM over the years: “Darryn has been the single biggest advocate for developing the agency’s substantial digital capability. Under his leadership, AIM has made the transition from a paper-based direct agency to one of the world’s leading direct and digital agencies. We are sorry to see Darryn go, and wish him every success in the next phase of his career,” says Moser.
Melrose says he has accomplished what he set out to at AIM and the timeis now ripe for him to explore new opportunities: “It has been a greatfew years for AIM Proximity with a great run of new business wins, onceagain increasing the size and scope of what we work on. We were ranked#1 in the World in Direct in the April 2009 Won Report, and awardedAgency of the Year and Best in Show at the last international CaplesAwards.”
Melrose lists his biggest accomplishment as overseeing thetransformation of the business as it developed its digital capability. “I am passionate about the need for New Zealand businesses to embracethe digital environment and believe that AIM is leading the way in thisarea. Direct marketing and database marketing are becoming moreimportant, as digital provides speed to market, personalisation andmeasurability advantages over other channels.”
In 2008 Melrose created the Digital Leadership Group, to encourage moreNew Zealand businesses to adapt to the digital environment and was itsinaugural chair. “I’d like to thank the team at AIM, it has been aprivilege to lead them and to work with some of the best brains in thebusiness. I know they will keep adapting and evolving to stay at theforefront of the market.”
Melrose says he has some exciting plans but is unable to reveal them atthis point. The search for his replacement is underway. In themeantime Jim Moser, Clemenger Group CEO, will be the interim CEO.

Replacement? Why would Colaimso need 2 CEOs?
From the outside, it looks like the Aim brand is being pulled into the Colenso mothership.
Any insights from the inside?
Yes.
Insights from the inside are nosey parker sticky beak at 9:28 sticking their nose against the outside of window. How’s that for insight?
Touchy topic apparently.
Insight from the inside… Why would Clem’s get rid of the Aim Proximity brand, one of the most respected and well known globally for what they do. It would be silly and they won’t do it.
Oh, they’ll keep the Aim brand, just none of the staff – more redundancies to come. No need to double up on creatives, suits etc – plenty of cost savings to be had.
The ‘Aim’ brand.
What’s that?
Hasn’t been the ‘Aim’ brand for years.
The rot started when the big guns left.
Who were the ‘big guns’? Whoever they were they did squat to make AIM no 2 in the world.
They formed Federation and DGS. Now they’re brands that sit naturally with Crispins etc.
5.57 that’s hilarious… sorry but aim is in a different league now to what it was in those stale old days. by the way is it still called DGS? I thought there were only two of them now…
5.57 – what planet are you on – probably one of them? Those guys (you) all got off a moving train years ago and have been left well behind. Where are they ranking at the moment…..exactly.
8.14 has a point. Aim is in a different league now. Junior league.
Last person to leave Aim turn the lights off. Ta.
8.14.
ROFLMAO.
That’s why Aim, (where you’re from) has lost half its clients and shrunk to half its size. Rapp Collins is twice as big as you now and you know it.
You are legends in your own lunchbox.
Hahahahahaha.
What work does Rapp do again? Whatever scraps they can get out of the shite fight with DDB and Tribal. Good luck fighting each other.
Only passengers left there methinks.
Reading these posts, maybe a few bottom feeders too.
8.21 clearly has a problem in dealing with reality. Aim is bigger than Rapp in every way you look at it – reputation, revenue, clients, staff numbers, creative awards. Perhaps Aim is behind Rapp though in employing blog plonkers.
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
More big swinging dick talk from Aim.
Very boring.
“Aim is bigger than Rapp.”
Bigger tossers.
It’s great watching all the Aim lackeys scuttling around trying to defend their once great agency. Face facts kiddos chances are you’ll be out of a job before too long like so many before you, and who are now happily working at DGS, Rapp and Tribal.
