Colenso BBDO scores five Silver and a Bronze Statue at the 24th London International Awards
EXCLUSIVE – This year, as was the case last year, Colenso BBDO, Auckland won New Zealand’s biggest swag of Statues at the 2009 London International Awards. Their work for ‘Yellow Treehouse’ won Three Silver Statues; one each in The NEW Category, Digital – Utilities and Non-Traditional Campaign. They were also honoured with another two Silver Statues in Television/Cinema/Digital/Web/Mobile – Public Service/Social Welfare Campaign and Public Service/Social Welfare for Alzheimer’s New Zealand. Apart from the Silver Statues, they were also awarded a Bronze Statue in Integrated Campaign for ‘Yellow Treehouse’.
The other NZ Winners were DDB New Zealand – Two Silver Statues:Radio – Home Entertainment for Singstar ‘Rock Doc’ and Poster – Entertainment for SkyMovies ‘Tadpole’; and Clemenger BBDO Wellington – Silver Statue for Radio – PublicService/Social Welfare for Road Saftey ‘It’s your call’.
“New Zealand continues to up the creative ante at our Show. We arealways very honoured to be able to recognise the many great pieces ofwork from there,” remarked Barbara Levy, president of LondonInternational Awards.
This year from the total number of 13,117 entries from 78 countries, only 0.56%
won Gold, 1.28% Silver, 1.5% Bronze and 1.46% Finalists.
SapientNitro, Brisbane continued its unstoppable awards march aroundthe world by picking up the Integrated Grand Prix for TourismQueensland’s ‘Best Job in the World’ campaign. ‘Best Job’ also won a Gold Statue in thesame Category, Gold in The NEW Category and Gold in Digital-OnlineCampaign.
Apart from the Integrated Grand Prix, Australia won 7 Gold, 6 Silver, 15 Bronze compared to New Zealand’s 8 Silver and 1 Bronze. Australia was ranked 3rd in the world, behind the US and UK, with NZ placed 19.
Eleven countries from Asia and Oceana, including Australia, China, HongKong, India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines,Singapore and Thailand won 25% of all the Statues awarded at the 2009London International Awards. Australia and Israel also won a Grand LIAeach, making up 50% of all the Grand LIAs awarded. Collectively, thesecountries won 18 Gold, 50 Silver and 43 Bronze Statues bringing thetotal number of Statues, including the Grand LIAs, to 113.
