Good CEO choice for AIM Proximity
Adam Good, currently Clemenger Group’s regional executive director of digital innovation, has taken on the additional role of CEO of AIM Proximity, Auckland, filling the role left vacant by the departure last week of Darren Melrose to M&C Saatchi.
Good has over twenty years experience with the interactive, online, television, film and advertising industries. He joined Clemenger inlate 2007 and spent 2008 growing the Interactive offering for an arrayof communication agencies in the group. This resulted in ClemengerGroup receiving more digital and innovative awards at local andinternational awards than any other agency in the region. Highlights include Colenso BBDO winning Best in Show Platinum award at the DigitalMedia Awards in Shanghai last year and the B&T Interactive agency of the yeartitle for Australasia in Sydney in December 2008. He was appointed to the regional executive director of digital innovation role in February this year.
Since then the great digital work has continued on both sides of the Tasman, highlights being multi-awarded campaigns like Yellow Tree house out of Colenso BBDO/AIM Proximity in NZ and Sega ‘Offset the Evil’ out of Clemenger BBDO/Clemenger Proximity, Sydney.
Commenting on the appointment, Jim Moser, Clemenger Group New Zealand CEO says, “Over the past couple of months we have done a lot of work to define where AIM Proximity needs to change and evolve – in order to continue its direct leadership in the Australasian and global marketplace.
“Adam was closely involved in this process and it soon became clear that he was the ideal candidate to lead the next exciting era of AIM Proximity. He knows the business, the clients and understands exactly where AIM needs to concentrate to evolve its offer. We couldn’t find anyone better, anywhere.
“AIM Proximity has always been about innovation, challenging the expected and producing powerful creative ideas that get brilliant results in market. Adam has spearheaded AIM’s digital development over the past two years in his role as Director of Digital Innovation across AIM Proximity and Colenso BBDO. He will now take that to a new level for the future,” says Moser.
Earlier this year, Adam was given the added responsibility of Australasian Director of Digital Innovation across Melbourne and Sydney predominantly. Good will continue in that role as it is critical to the Clemenger Group’s continued dominance in all things digital. However, his priority will be AIM Proximity where he will focus the majority of his time and effort.
Good says he is delighted to have the opportunity to lead New Zealand’s largest and most awarded direct marketing agency: “AIM Proximity has made the transition from a paper-based direct agency to one of the world’s leading direct and digital agencies, and to remain best-in-class it is vital we continue to evolve.
“New Zealand marketing is adapting from air bombing a large group of people with a few ad messages to engaging lots of smaller audiences with targeted messages and useful applications. This is a fundamental shift from basic integration – which is simply the same idea and message executed in a different channel – to saying different things to different people depending on the data held about them.
“Tomorrow’s most successful companies will be those that use data to their customer’s advantage, as opposed to their own. Really understanding customer behaviour means going beyond what people say to what they actually do and over the past year I have been working closely with the team at AIM Proximity to develop tools, such as Seventh Sense, so we know who is doing what, where they’re doing it and what they are saying about it.”
One of Good’s initial tasks will be searching for a new Creative Director and Strategic Director / Channel Planner toreplace ECD Dave King, who also moved to M&C Saatchi, along withplanning director Tony Burt. He will begin his duties immediately.

Well done Adam. Great appointment, not just Good appointment. Surely your logical running mate is Mr Turk? You two will be brilliant together and continue doing even better work than you’ve already done.
That room he’s sitting in looks almost completely cleaned out. Weird.
Icing on the cake.
Has anyone seen my bag?
Good news, well done Adam!
I thought they took the TV as well?
All that HARD work payed off.
Adam your suit is pimping.
More press releases full of shit. Just like the ones coming out of M&C.
Latest word is, Adam read his own press release and died of boredom.
All jokes aside, nice pun in the headline.
9.55 could your tongue be any further up his arse?
Will he be spending more time in Wellington then?
Mate that press release out of M&C was the bottom rung. You cant get worse than that.
This is so much fun, you take a shot at Aim and they fire one back at M&C. I can’t lose.
4.13, no it couldn’t.
9.55 is a good example of colonic irrigation with the tongue. Barf.
Thanks for the feedback fellas. Adam, just go grab Turk, rack up more runs on the board and show these idiots just what good stuff you can do. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing and soon enough everyone will be talking about you and how good you are.
well said 9.55, Adam’s a top guy and deserves this role.
It’s an interesting choice. I wonder why they allowed him to keep his old job too. He would be more effective if he did not have this safety valve.
Adam’s a natural leader who always puts the team before himself. For every step he’s taken in his career, he’s taken two people with him. It’s this selflessness which will see Aim truly flourish under his guidance.
I think Adam’s a great choice as an ex-client. Darryn was a good thinker, and they’ll miss Dave’s personality and creativity, but I think Adam will get them back on track.
If Adam can get the two Aarons to ignite then that is a match made in heaven. They are both so AWESOME.
Was king pushed?
And did he and Melrose lose clients?
If so, and they have a average track record, why the F _ _ K would M&C want them?
Seems like one has lost it’s management (and seems happy) and the other has brought it half price (and seems to think they got a bargain).
Comments please.
Can anyone give me a heads up.
if they can hold M&C together now they are complete geniuses.
Bob. It goes like this.
Score Card on client retention Below Average to Very Poor .
And correct on last conclusion. One agency happy. Other agency thinking they have a bargain. Bargains are usually bargains for a reason.
One agency happy. That’s funny.
