CB EXCLUSIVE – BMF Sydney group account director Nick Garrett, who looks after the Lion Nathan business, has been appointed managing director of Colenso BBDO, replacing Brent Smart, who is soon off to head up BBDO West (based in San Francisco but also includes the LA office).

So Smarty is being replaced by a GAD? Perhaps Jim Moser is planning on running the show himself……
John, remember Smarty was a GAD when he started. Hopefully Moser has inherited Roger and Maddocks’ ability to pick ’em.

Well 6.30pm the interesting point is that there are three maybe four exceptional GAD’s here who have just been passed over. Hopefully they were at least included in the interview process.
I didn’t know that Smarty was a GAD when he was selected. But he had Rodger running the show for a while. So we are safe to assume that Jim will be making ALL the calls.
I remember when Leif Garret was on CHips once…in the 70s. I’m sure it was Chips.
Roger is/was without doubt one of the smartest operators NZ has ever seen. He will be long remembered as brilliant.

10.46- are you saying that there are a whole lot of new GADs there we don’t know about?
Roger and Neil were running the show when Brent first started, so he wasn’t making any of the calls then.
Someone making the comments on here is a dickhead. Neil Livingstone ran the agency for a long time while Smarty was only a GAD – for a long time. Rog was Chairman. He was the Leader. Smarty learned a lot from Neil AND Rog.
