State Insurance by Walkers advertising. Things go terribly wrong and everyone sings “Always look on the bright side of life”. Very very similar. Although the soundtrack is different.
Except this is funny and based on a real insight. When we have a shit day we all love to go home and watch our favourite telly. Not, when we have a burst pipe, we all like to stand around singing how happy we are in a metre of water.

So Andy, back to this whole English ECD = predicatable English movie reference theory. Hmmm. Bright side of Life that you referred to was of course made famous in Life of Brian, the final scene where they are all pinned to their crosses and have a singalong. And it was used quite well by State once upon a time. I say quite because it didn’t win much if anything. What has Que Sera Sera got to do with that? As a track, it’s American in origin. It hails from the 50’s (Doris Day and the like). It’s a bit of a stretch to compare it to Python other than it’s a musical and it employs dark humour. But it only contains dark humour because the writer changed the words. They’re made up, unique in other words. In fact I love the way the lyrics are re-written. Your arguement is as thin as your barely disguised hatred of Pom ECD’s. You ‘re a bit of a doofus, aren’t you.
‘entertaining’. that’s what tv clients want. and got. good stuff. only hiccup for me was the vaguely ‘honda grr’ doves at the end.
