ASB tennis shelter a hit with commuters
Case study: Commuters at selected Adshel Create shelters were recently treated to courtside action as Whybin\TBWA unveiled its latest Create campaign in support of the ASB Classic. The specially designed bus shelters combined posters, decals and sound technology to create a tennis match experience within the selected Adshel bus shelters.
On the outside facing panel of the shelter, the poster creativefeatured a tennis player mid-serve from a behind angle. On the insidefacing panel, the poster showed the same tennis player front oncontinuing with her serve motion. To further enhance the experience, sound technology was used, projecting a ‘grunt’ from the tennis playeras she served the ball.
Fixed to the glass panel at the other end of the shelter was a tennisball. A decal was effectively used to illustrate cracks around thetennis ball, giving the illusion that the girl had served the ball intothe end of the shelter, breaking the glass.
The ASB Classic tennis tournament is part of the Women’s TennisAssociation’s (WTA) tour, which ran this year from January 4th -9th.ASB has been supporting tennis in New Zealand for more than 100 years. The tennis campaign as booked out of MPG and the creative was from TBWA.

People who go to the tennis don’t catch the bus. End of story.
This here is a comment that i’m writing in this here text box (with expertly highlighted blue frame) as a comment (in reply) to the above piece of text (text is writing). In the beginning of this sentance you will notice a capital ‘i’ (I). To futher enhance this comment we had someone question why the ball has “Wilson US Open” written on it? To un-enhance this experience you should have used Photoshop technology effectively. The results would be through the roof, the client would be very happy.
US Open…
Fail.
Didn’t L&P do something like this a couple of years ago?
Yep. BYC fridge decals.
oh how very creative. we bought a prank toy from china and printed a logo on it. you guys rock.
The broken glass thing was also done, perhaps more fittingly, for Araldite on the sky tower’s see-through floor. US Open ball – oh dear…
Well, I like it. This speaks to those who like sports but who think tennis is a bit stiff.
On the downside, I think it would have been better to have the name of the tournament on the ball or somewhere, anywhere….
Wouldn’t surprise me if its been done before. Most things have been done before though.
God, those Tui Billboards in Wgtn are getting worse and worse and worse – unfunny as hell, redundant words, bad grammar….
