Don’t miss Coastguard NZ’s live rescue mission this Sunday at 5.40pm
Watch out for DDB’s event for Coastguard NZ which is taking place this weekend. In essence they’re going to conduct a live rescue mission that relies on the public to help find a capsized vessel and its crew within two hours.
On Sunday 31 January at 5.40pm, real time footage shot in first personwill air on TV One. The POV footage will put viewers into the shoes ofa Coastguard volunteer at the start of a rescue operation to find thecapsized boat somewhere in the expanse of the Hauraki Gulf. Viewerswill be directed to www.liverescue.co.nz to join the search effort, where they’ll find themselves in a simulatedCoastguard Air Patrol search plane, scouring the New Zealand coastlinein real time for the missing vessel.
Coastguard will be putting four crew (in wetsuits) in an upturned vesselequipped with a GPS tracker for two hours – people participating in thesearch have only two hours to try and locate the boat before thechances of survival significantly diminish.
Throughout the night there will be further television updates givingpeople more information to help with their online search, with radiolisteners also invited to join the mission.
