Kapiti exhibitions pop-up everywhere
New Zealand’s iconic Kapiti Ice Cream has opened three pop-up exhibitions in Auckland showcasing New Zealand design. The unique pop-up shop fronts, inspired by Kapiti’s new designer range of ice creams, are at: 238 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland; 7 Mt Eden Road, Mt Eden, Auckland; and Michelle Yvette Deluxe Boutique, 30 Customs Street, Britomart, Downtown Auckland.
The Kapiti exhibitions are influenced by their delicious new range ofice creams inspired by emerging fashion designer Michelle Yvette – whowas named breakthrough designer at the 2008 Air New Zealand FashionWeek. In partnership with George FM, Kapiti will be handing out samplesof Kapiti Ice Cream to consumers in the different locations, between12.30pm and 1.30pm daily.
The pop-up style store front is one of the newest trends to emerge inretail and Kapiti Ice Cream will be one of the first Kiwi brands to usethis clever marketing tool in New Zealand. Kapiti ice cream marketingmanager Angelina Ashcroft says: “We are very excited to be one of the first pop-up exhibitions inAuckland. This style of store front allows us to break tradition andbring Kapiti by Design to life in an experiential way for consumers.”
The exhibition windows, dressed by New Zealand television personalityand Interior Stylist LeeAnn Yare, incorporate a range of Kiwi designerensembles by Michelle Yvette and Juliette Hogan.
Kapiti’s association with New Zealand design is furtherdemonstrated in their television commercial, which exclusively featuresNew Zealand designers.
Auckland locals, who visit the Kapiti Ice Cream pop-up exhibitionsduring sampling time, can try the delicious new trio of single serveKapiti Ice Cream – a chocolate dipped vanilla crème stick, a chocolatedipped boysenberry stick and a decadent chocolate cup.
“Kapiti ice cream contains the freshest and finest ingredients. Theboysenberries that make our sauce are from the heart of Nelson, theGingernut contains our favourite crushed biscuits and the Fig and Honeyis infused with manuka honey from Cambridge,” says Angelina.
The popular take-home one litre tubs of Kapiti ice cream that havereceived the designer treatment include: Vanilla Bean, TripleChocolate, Double Cream and Cookies, Fig and Honey, Gingernut and WhiteChocolate and Raspberry.

One of the worst trends in advertising in the past few years: Lets hire some artist to do what it is they do, then slap our brand on it and say we ‘sponsored it’ and then give some tenuous connection to what it has to do with our product. (We’re ‘designer’ ice cream, therefore let’s get a designer to…………)
