Australia’s cricket team is visiting New Zealand to play a few games ofcricket. Many of the team haven’t played in New Zealand before so DDBAuckland thought they’d give them some information about New Zealand,including its cultures, cuisine, rules and highlights. A skepticalperson might say the information they provided is not just totallyincorrect, but also a hindrance to the Australians but they wouldn’ttreat our rivals from across the Tasman Sea that way, would they?

It’s an oldie and I still kinda like the idea but humour is just weak.
I generally like DDB’s work but for me I find this weak and not that funny. It kind of parallels the perception that rightly or wrongly the Black Caps are a bit of a joke and everyone likes to knock ’em. NZ is actually pretty competitive in the one-day and 20/20 scene but will probably struggle in the tests. We’ve got some world class players, as have the Aussies, so why aren’t the ads highlighting this, stirring some emotion and stoking the fires of trans Tasman rivalry. I know this is “uncreative” but to me, this is what would get people buying tickets.
