Škoda New Zealand thinks Big
Škoda New Zealand has appointed Big Communications as its strategic and creative agency, effective immediately, after a pitch against M&C Saatchi and incumbent Revolution.
James Yates, general manager of Škoda New Zealand says the company is well positioned for significant growth over the next few years and that Big had presented a compelling strategy for the brand in a three-way agency pitch. Says Yates: “Big instinctively understood our issues, and their views on where the brand can go are consistent with ours. We wanted to find an agency that could handle our advertising, direct and digital requirements and they certainly demonstrated capability in all three areas. The pitch process involved a couple of strategic and creative briefs and Big nailed them both”.
Ant Salmon, managing director of Big, says Škoda is a great additionto the agency’s client list: “With Škoda winning the UK Top GearLuxury Car of the Year and Family Car of the Year awards in 2009 it’s agreat time to be involved with the company. There’s already a mini-epidemic of people who realise that Škoda is producing great vehiclesat outstanding value for money, and we look forward to working withJames to help Škoda achieve its growth targets.”
Big will work with Škoda’s existing media partner OMD.

Why is the Australian blog still defaulting to the UK domain registry?
We had a domain name problem yesterday (forgot to renew), now fixed, but you may have to refresh your browser to see the site. Let me know if that solves the problem.
Lynchy
Skoda and Big.
They sound made for each other.
The encumbant was? Who else pitched?
Who did the Skoda billboards a few years back? Sexy models, ugly names… or was that international creative?
I haven’t seen anything Skoda’s done since.
Nor have I seen a Skoda since.
That was Mr Smith I think.
