Publicis Mojo Auckland has screened the latest Steinlager Pure commercial, fronted by US actor Vincent Gallo, who follows in the footsteps of Willem Dafoe and Harvey Keitel.
The new spot, directed by Australian director Christopher Riggert from @radical.media, coincides with a new online campaign for Steinlager Pure callled Pure Futures, in search of inspiring kiwis who are ‘future awesome’.

I used to stand before a gigantic black cloud of uncertainty every day, then I had my doctor prescribe me something. Poor Vincent Gallo. He looks like he needs a hug or some supportive words from John Kirwan.
I love it. Finally an intelligent ad from NZ that’s not the usual blokey smut.
I’m glad u used Vincent. Can’t understand what all the fuss was about. He’s brill.
He looks like the guy in the Spin Don’t Spin ads.
Does Jo average even know who this guy is?
Vincent is awesome. A lot of fuss about nothing from Actors equity, Close-up etc.
The ad works … its very cool. Would it have been the same with some local guy walking around playing that role?
No.
Brilliant! Love it.
Brilliant! Love it.
I thought it was the guy from the spin ads too.

Great ad. It is nice to see a beer ad that isnt taking the piss or showing a pair of boobs. Go Mojo.
i really love this ad. dark, sexy, styley. and i love vincent gallo. who cares about whether ‘Jo Average’ knows who he is. it’s about being cool. job done i reckon.
Why spend big $ on someone nobody knows? Kind of dumb really. It’s all about “being cool’ – what a dickhead. Isn’t it the average punter who buys the product?
The website also looks like it’s been done by a 10 year old and comes across as a complete after thought.
Website is shit.
But I love the ad.
Vincent Gallo is great.
Like the premise too.
Yep, nice ad.
Fuck me there’s a bunch of Mojo people posting on this one isn’t there.
How come there aren’t any bulgarian backpackers emerging from the mist? A beer ad needs norks… or a joke… doesn’t it…?
Nevertheless, I actually considered buying some of this when I was in Countdown, instead of Stella… shiiiiivers, maybe advertising DOES work!?
Hey, looks a lot like a music clip for a song called ‘Grounded’ by a UK band called My Vitriol from a few years back They used Gallo as well….They just left out the pack shot.
So good it hurts. Hats off.
