Revealed: Cadbury’s ‘Freida’ commercial created by three NZ agencies and US animators Psyop
The team behind the latest Cadbury Glass And A Half Full Production, ‘Freida’,which first went to air in NZ two weeks ago and has just gone to air inAustralia, combines the talents of RAPP NZ, Tribal DDB, DDB NZ and USbased animators, Psyop. This is the first Cadbury spot in the seriesnot conceived by Fallon, London.
The team took universally recognised ‘smooth character’, Fred Astaire, and gave his iconic dance routine the unique Cadbury touch to create another joy-filled Cadbury moment.
One of the creatives told CB: “Psyop (who did Coke HappinessFactory) are amazing to work with. We filmed two two dancers tiedtogether to be the front and the back of the cow, then a real
cow and matched all the movements in CG. It took 4 months!”
The spot is currently only running in Australia and New Zealand, but CBunderstands there is high hopes it will go global, depending onconsumer reaction.

rubbish
I was getting into it and then was let down by the end bit on the stage.
It would be way better in 3D.
Nah.
too rational with a cow it’s a campaign in retreat
Rich, fat and indulgent rubbish. Three agencies? Hahaha.
Going down a treat on the Australian CB blog.
Dancing cow has been done for milk ads. sorry
Not in the same league as the other spots sorry.
I think Frieda is ace!
it’s no drumming gorilla
This version was way better… in its day. Still if Hollywood can churn out hits over and over I guess DDB can too.

Interesting to see the Aussie blog with their detailed paragraphs going into why they reckon the spot is bollocks. Over here in NZ it’s all done in one line – do they have more time to spare than us or can they just type faster?
Actually Anchor UK had dancing cows from about 1986 – state of the art at the time.
Moooo! I mean, booooo!
Moove over Gorilla, Frieda’s in town.
It’s highly likely in real life that cow actually makes milk for Anchor
wtf…. hides from tv and dies from embarassment.
DDBoooooooo!!!!
