Nick Smith to head of craft role at DRAFTFCB

In a shock move described as ‘fantastic for Draft, average for Nelson,’ Nelson MP, Dr Nick Smith has left Saatchi Auckland to head up a newly founded craft department at DraftFCB.

Dr Smith has been instrumental in many of Saatchi’s successes over the years, having cut his teeth at the National Party HQ in the early 90’s as a Mac op, laying up manifestos, propaganda and x-rated Japanese Manga style images of Helen Clark.

Says Dr Smith: “I’m glad to be joining such a fine bunch of people at Draft. They’re 100% behind craft. Craft / Draft, heck it’s destiny. ”

“Sure I’ve done my time at Saatchi’s and I’m proud of all that I’veachieved there. But the thing I’m most glad about is not having todrive from Nelson to Auckland 3 times a week.  I tell ya, with theferry crossings that drive is a bitch.”

Dr Smith says he also has noregrets about leaving his job as MP for Nelson Bays as the Minister forEnvironment, Climate Change Issues and ACC and much prefers the idea ofgetting stuck into some ‘pretty sweet print ads and making themgangsta, and then after that when everyone thinks I’m done, I’m goingto make them solid and then hard out too.’

Nick Smith starts onthe 12th June, his first challenge will be re-designing the patentedDraftFCB 36 point star-burst. The brief ‘Go for 37 points Nick, just gofor it’.
