McCabe to senior writer role at DraftFCB

DraftFCB has made a number of new appointments across the agency, with newly created positions such as HR manager and Head of Craft, as well as appointments in account service and creative.

Joining the creative team in a senior writer role is Steve McCabe , who brings 18 years of writing experience to DraftFCB. His most recent full time role was as Deputy Creative Director of Y&R Auckland. While acting CD, he helped lead the agency to the Fairfax/AdMedia Agency of the Year 2007. The following year he went in search of new adventures with freelance stints in Dubai and Nigeria, as well as at some of New Zealand’s finest agencies.

His career has so far taken him to London, working for DDB, DMB&B,Lowe and Euro RSCG and George Patts in Sydney, before being lured toGenerator in Auckland six years ago. On his travels McCabe has pickedup a fair few awards, including a couple of Gold Lions and a Silver atCannes.

In a new resource for the agency, Nick Smith comes on board to head up the Craft Department. As a core part of the creativedepartment, Craft will provide a fresh perspective to visualcommunication and ultimately produce award winning work.  

Smith has previously spent four years at Saatchi & Saatchi runningthe Craft department and working across major NZ brands such asTelecom, Toyota, DB, Westpac, TVNZ, Griffins and NZ Army.

Says Smith: “DraftFCB is a great agency with a bloody great client listand a ton of very talented people. I look forward to getting to knowour brands and the crew here at Draft. I believe that Craft will add ahuge amount of value to the DraftFCB offering and cannot wait to startproducing some outstanding work.”

In another newly created position, Roslyn Koskela joins the team as theagencies first ever HR Manger. With DraftFCB recently winning prolificclients such as Westfield and National Bank, this appointment comes asa result of the agencies continued growth, with staff numbers reachingnew heights in 2010.

Roslyn has recently worked in the accounting industry and started outher career in psychology. She is looking forward to bringing herextensive experience, particularly in performance management andrecruitment, to the table.

DraftFCB have also recently appointed two new account managers, Hannah Peterson and Sarah Meikle. 

Joining the Auckland team, Hannah Peterson’s broad experience inpromotions and digital makes her a great fit for the Westfield account,while Sarah Meikle has made the move from Auckland to join theWellington team and put her degree in Marketing and Business Managementto good use.

Toni Becht has returned to DraftFCB as Media Planner on two key globalbrands after 3 years at ZenithOptimedia (Sydney & Auckland) and ina new addition to the creative team, DraftFCB also welcomes LyleMarkle, an interactive designer with a comprehensive knowledge of theonline environment.
