Digital agency VML@Y&R set to launch in NZ
Young & Rubicam Brands is set to launch the full service digital agency VML into the NZ market.
Y&R Brands CEO Russel Howcroft (left) said plans are underway to launch initially in Auckland in the next couple of months: “We are negotiating with prospects in the NZ market and expect to have the operation up and running shortly”, he said.
VML@Y&R has so far launched 11 offices worldwide since it partnered with Y&R Brands in 2009. It will open a further eight offices over the next year, including Australia, where it will operate with George Patterson Y&R.
Howcroft said timing of the rollout would be determined by “having theright people in place: “Our partnership VML has been a great success inother markets and we intend to replicate that here.”
VMLjoined the WPP Group in 2001 and has operated independently as a Young& Rubicam agency since 2006. In 2009, the agency became Y&R’sglobal digital partner.

Is it going to launch with some of those really cool brands we read about in NBR, like roost mortgages and click clack?
I’d say they are 5 years too late with this one.
That horse bolted long ago.
Who’s going to tell them?
This agency is backwards – there is no way any reasonable client would move their digital business to Y&R or VML&Y&R – don’t get it….
Bundling is the new unbundling.
