Backslash\ takes out BOTAB, Best Rock ‘n Roll Attitude goes to Ogilvy’s The Hathaways

_42J0004.jpgUPDATED WITH PICS FROM THE NIGHT – As reported previously, the winner of last week’s sellout Battle of the Ad Bands competition at the Kings Arms was Backslash from TBWA\Tequila (pictured left and fist pic below left).

The band’s allotted wildcard song, Poi E, was a definite crowd favourite, while judges Karyn Hay, Andrew Fagan and David Farrier all agreed the band had potential outside of the competition.

_42J0034.jpgFirst prize includes a music video courtesy of Flying Fish, a recordingof the band’s original song by Liquidstudios, a publishing deal fromNative Tongue Music Publishers, and a $1000 lunch courtesy of CAANZ andFlying Fish.

DraftFCB’s The Stink kicked-started the night with a rocking big bang,and got everyone jumping with their crowd-pleasing original The Stink.Accompanied by a robot, HainesAttract’s King Creatos owned the stagewith a mind bending solo(ish) performance, while Skull and Bones’Geoffery Jones decided they didn’t need to own it at all – rushingthrough their set in under 4 minutes. Later on in the evening FlyingFish, with Jessie G and the Six Eights, slowed it right down with asublime rendition of I See Red.
