Aaron Goldring takes CD gig at RAPP Tribal as Wayne and Kim Pick head for RAPP New York
Aaron Goldring (left) has taken the helm as creative director of RAPP Tribal New Zealand, replacing creative duo executive creative director Wayne and Kim Pick, who depart for RAPP in New York where Wayne will take up a global creative director role for major client Hewlett Packard.
Goldring was formerly deputy CD at Tribal DDB since his arrival in 2009 and previously was Head of Interactive Art at AIM Proximity. He will oversee a combined team of over 20 direct and digital creatives.
Creative duo, executive creative director Wayne and Kim Pick, depart for RAPP in New York where Wayne will take up a global creative director role for major client Hewlett Packard.
Ian Haworth, RAPP’s global chief creative officer says he is very excited to have Wayne make the move to New York: “Wayne has done a truly phenomenal job in New Zealand, and this move is a great chance for us to have him to spread his magic on a worldwide basis.”
RAPP and Tribal DDB merged into a single agency in August, with a staff of more than 60 and a blue chip client roster including Telecom, ANZ New Zealand, McDonald’s, Yellow, Cadbury, CIGNA, Volkswagen, NZ Lotteries, Loyalty NZ and Wattie’s. The move to fuse both direct and digital disciplines into one agency under the leadership of managing director Robert Limb (left) was in response to client demands to deliver a streamlined offering for DDB Group clients.
Client service director Maggie Christie will lead a team of 12, while the RAPP Tribal planning department has been bolstered by head of digital Dan Stoneham and head of CRM planning Emma McLean. A creative services director will also be appointed to head up a growing team of producers, designers and developers.
Sean Keaney continues to lead the RAPP Tribal Wellington team of ten.
Says Limb: “Our senior management team reflects our goal to deliver seamless digital and direct creative, planning and production firepower within the DDB Group. We’ve got top talent and well honed expertise.”

Congrats Az, you’ll do well.
Congratulations Aaron you really deserve this. Aim must be kicking themselves now that they didn’t promote you after Kingi left. What a missed opportunity. When are you going to hire Turk?
I read this ‘release’ and more in an update from Gapesy this morning.
Well done Aaron and all that stuff.
But as for the rest of it, my bullshit detector still hasn’t stopped ringing.
“Rapp reveals new leadership line-up,” The release said. Complete with the usual gratuitous pic of Limb. Why?
FFS. All bar one of the ‘new leaders’ are existing. If they must pump out this shit, pump it into their internal audience.
But stop feeding the rest of us this fucking crap PLEASE.
8.36: Sorry if you consider the fact that a newly merged agency that is now, by itself, bigger than Saatchi & Saatchi has a new creative leader isn’t newsworthy. Got that. Or that the previous CD is now New York bound to be Global CD on Hewlett Packard. Kind of a big deal but hey, not to a big swinging dick like you. One little thing. You are a twat. Then again, I’m sure everyone who knows you knows you’ve always been a twat. So that isn’t worth writing about much either, is it.
Another example of AIM alumni excelling after they leave. Aaron to CD Rapp/Tribal, Jose to part owner of Drogba, Dave Darren and Tony to M&C, Dave & Steve to Saatchi & Saatchi. No wonder all the clients have left or are leaving. Why hasn’t any journalist covered this story? From number two in the world to the scrap heap all in a year. Who presided over that giant screw up?
Well done Az, you’ll make a better CD than you do an off-spinner.
Well done Azza and congrats Wayne & Kim – huge news all round.
– Matto
Rob you appear to have slipped out to Vidal Sassoon since i saw you last ?
Nice work Jim – you have single handedly staffed up the rest of the industry.
Aaron, why didn’t they give you a chair with your new promotion?
– Steve
nice action fella
Congrats Aaron, Wayne and Kim. Top stuff, well deserved.
Aaron, are you arms longer than your legs?
I just saw the most amazing thing in the Garden! It was Cameron and Azz sharing a congratulatory dutch rudder.
… and yeah I agree, it’s been a Good thing all the Aim stars have Mosied on to bigger and better things.
I remember when Aaron used to make me coffee, carry my bags, polish my shoes. Now look at him. Congrats!
Nice work fella, well deserved.
Let’s do that a celebratory beer soon eh?
@12:19 – Hairier.
Aaron, you put the phunk into rapp.
Aaron, you put the app into rapp. Digital, yo.
Congrats Aaron, well deserved.
Big congrats to Wayne Pick.
The guy is a legend and proving it. Most of you seem to have forgotten to mention his achievement. It’s also the most newsworthy part of the release. I happen to agree with 8.36. The release from David Gapes today was pure unadulterated spin. Vomit.
So 9.02, twat, if you put it out there (and maybe it was you who did hmm?), expect to get it back.
Congrats Aaron.
First Ross Howard to CD at Tequila and now Aaron at RAPP Tribal. There’s some great talent with digital stripes in top gigs which is fantastic to see. Keep up the good work.
So let’s pretend I’m a client. Not only have I lost two fantastic creatives (namely Wayne & Kim) working on my business, I now have the Deputy CD of Tribal looking after my every creative whim. Crikey, smart move Rapp. I can smell Sandy Moore all over this!
Yes, there is a smell 8.06. And when you walk around the building, your nose leads you to a certain corner. But no surprises there. Things always have a peculiar stink in that neck of the woods.
Well done Azz, it’s good to see an agency looking forward and investing in the talent they already have, and I am sure every single RAPP Tribal client is excited by the change too. Oh, and congrats to Wayne and Kim…. nice gig in NY.
Guffaw!!!
What happened to Megan? G.M of tribal?
