Fairfax trials interactive news billboard
The Auckland central business district will be home to New Zealand’s firstinteractive news billboard trial. Fairfax has launched an interactive digital billboard which features real-timecontent from Fairfax newspapers from New Zealand and around the world, streamedthrough online news source, www.stuff.co.nz.
The 36-square metre billboard will be located in Aotea Square today and Tuesday as Fairfax trials the viability of establishing a central city news billboard longterm.
Fairfax Group Sales and Marketing Manager, Sandra King says, “the digitalbillboard will provide an opportunity for Aucklanders in and around the CBD tokeep up to date with news as it happens.”
“We believe that there is a need for a news source in the CBD, which willprovide a talking point for locals and visitors. We hope that there will enoughsupport from Aucklanders to see the site continue”, says Sandra King.
The trial has gained support from local business leaders who say that as NewZealand’s face to the world, it is essential that the new Super City is leadingthe way.
Heart of the City CEO, Alex Swney says “at the heart of every great city is agreat CBD. Anything we can do to attract more people into the centre city andadd vibrancy and interest to the Auckland centre is important.”

Is this an interactive idea or just a large TV set? I think it would be great if it came with a huge remote so you could change channels, then it would be interactive. I’d change it to Man vs Food. That program rocks
