VML@Y&R launches in New Zealand
VML@Y&R, a global leader in digital and interactive campaigns focusing on effectiveness through engagement, is up and running in New Zealand.
VML@Y&R launches under the leadership of two of New Zealand’s most experienced digital practitioners, Nigel Hammersley and Michael Gregg.
Nigel Hammersley has 14 years‚ experience in digital/interactive and has worked on numerous accounts in both London and NZ winning a variety of industry awards along the way. He is the former Head of Digital at Sugar, was a partner at TOUCH/CAST/next and Head of Interactive at Clemenger BBDO & AIM Proximity.
“I’m looking forward to creating and delivering unfettered world-class ideas that generate results for our clients. We‚ll have a no fuss approach backed up by the VML network that is already creating solutions for clients at the intersection of marketing and technology.”
Michael Gregg has over 20 years experience in advertising and technology. He was on the management team of Trade Me, past IAB chairman, a former Director & Shareholder of ChromeToaster, and previous Head of Interactive at Clemenger BBDO.
“Having Y&R behind us gives us a global network of clients. This challenge is exactly what I have been looking for to extract myself from the Marlborough Sounds and the chance to team up with Nigel again is compelling. Nothing like this exists in NZ right now – a global, digital offering that Nigel and I can throw our energies into,” says Gregg.
“I couldn’t be more delighted in securing this seriously good talent to lead VML@Y&R,” said Jon Ramage, CEO Y&R NZ. “They are as ambitious as I am in creating effective interactive campaigns,” he added.
Jon Cook, Global President of VML is thrilled to have another office on the global network and especially excited about the talent who will lead the business in New Zealand. “These guys really are digital natives with proven track records of delivering successful digital projects. It’s great having them in our rapidly growing network,” he said.
VML@Y&R has so far launched 11 offices worldwide since it partnered with Y&R Brands in 2009. It will open a further eight offices over the next year.

Can’t wait for the usual press release about “bringing everything under one roof/eliminating silos/one creative voice/channel neutrality” when they close this train smash down in….6 months….
“Having Y&R behind us” … hearing that a lot these days
now, now… what a lot of biter comments. a few sad/scared agency puppies out there?? Personally i am looking forward to seeing the results of a very interesting combination…
Digital job #1: get a better digital camera, FFS.
3.28…. Peanut butter and shit still tastes like shit, interesting as it may be as a combination.
who cares
5.08 you been researching this recently or always been a shit expert?
8.28 If you think expertise would be required to anticipate the dominant flavour in a shit sandwich I think you probably already work for these two muppets….keep chewing.
11.10 Life is like a shit sandwich, but the more bread you have, the less shit you taste. Given your tone and opinion, you eat a lot of shit.
Well done Hammers, all the best. Y&R have done well and will need all your digital ninja skills. Still surprised you haven’t set up your own shop yet. GIve me a call when you do.
It could either be very great or go very wrong, I guess that depends on how Y&R are involved. Let them do their thing and it’ll be one to watch!
