Speights: it’s good to be home
Lion Nathan New Zealand and Publicis Mojo have created a new summer campaign for Speight’s. The ‘Pride of Your Castle’ campaign has been launched with a 30 second TV spot, which looks at man’s indomitable quest to shake off the daily shackles and get home for a few cold ones.
A follow up 15 second promotional spot and on-pack promotion also gives kiwi blokes the chance to win their own personalised BBQ package, along with other prizes for the home, including personalised stubby holders, BBQ aprons and beer labels.

Shit! No wonder everyone is leaving Mojo. . . how much longer can they hold onto this account?
reminds me of when i go home invading after a night on the horse
missed opportunity
A shocker. These people have no feeling for the brand. This is a DB spot, or a Lion Red one.
Up there with Traverse.
Couldn’t remember the brand when I told colleagues about it today. Said “DB”. Swing and a miss.
‘Brand Salad’ = throw a bit of whatever’s left over into a bowl and serve it up to the client cold. So in the past few years they’ve gone from send a pub to your mates, reheated the southern man cliche & now they’re chasing urban blokes with what feels like a knock off of the NZ Pure commercial which mixes up Speights GMA & their Summit spin off. Does anyone there have the foggiest idea what this brand stands for any more?
Where are the lions, bring back the lions, I liked the lions.
crap onya mate
I don’t get the looking at camera thing…. first Freeview, now this? Is it a new ‘thing’ ?
Liked it. A fresh execution of a stereotypical Kiwi bloke. Makes a change from him in a “man cave” or at a bar with his mates looking staunch.
Actually like the music. Bit different for Speight’s but think it works.
i like it. simple and funny.
I like it. Great moment at the end.
Mojo Auckland really is dead. Sad to see a proud Kiwi beer being fucked over by the Aussies.
When do they close up?
Wow, tell me this isn’t going to air?
5.50…..too late my friend – went on-air sunday
Reminds me of a really bad take on Old Spice
Maybe the worst ad of the year posted on this blog…
…and thats bad as we bitch about every thing
I actually like it. I don’t think it’s trying to be the next Southern Man. Just a nice simple summer spot.
Ranfurly Man Park – that was bad.
I like it.
Fantastic soundtrack and some really nice moments in there.
I love how shit this ad is. Really strong parallels with the product.
