Ogilvy will not be pitching for Placemakers
“Contrary to media reports, Ogilvy will not, repeat not, be pitching for the Placemakers account,” says Greg Partington, managing director of Qgilvy New Zealand.
“We’ve had the account for a couple of years and we are extremely proud of the work we have done for them but weeks ago for a variety of reasons we made the strategic decision we would not be involved in the current agency review by Placemakers”, he adds.
NBR’s report today has suggested Ogilvy is participating in the new pitch process. “That’s simply not true,” says Partington. “We are an extremely large agency with a full volume of business and we’ve made the decision to concentrate all our resources on our existing clients and their expanding demands”.

Lot of fuss about nothing from Ogilvy! Bad look not to be invited to pitch, too.
Not pitching is smart if you know you aren’t going to win and have better things to do with your time and money.
I’ve always respected a client who will straight out tell an incumbent they have already lost the account so don’t bother to re-pitch. I’ve seen far too many agencies kill themselves on pitches they have already lost.
Gotta be in to win 1.21
I’ve seen many an agency who had ‘already lost’ kill themselves too, but ending up with the win.
Lazy approach mate, you English?
No. But I can’t think of anything much lazier than assuming someone’s nationality from a short post you don’t much like.
