CASE STUDY: Boy racers don’t listen to road safety advertising. So Ogilvy Auckland created this unique campaign to directly target them in Waitakere City.

What a self serving piece of crap. 1200 people? Prove your motives are pure, Ogilvy, by not entering this in any awards.
Then next year, do something that might work.
Oh wait, the client doesn’t even exist any more.
1200 for $950 isn’t bad. Strong message on a small and targeted scale.
This is great! 1200 people may not be lot but they were so well targeted I think it really works. If you truly want to talk self serving, that ASB iPad crap last week is the one to beat.
SEX ! Now that I’ve got your attention.
Which ad agency now does the Auckland Super City ads?
Yip, a blatant awards entry. But, like, whatever. Not game changing. Just an award stuffer.
I thought the guy sounded like that doofus twin off Outrageous Fortune.

scamtronic
two of my shore mates rang.
yep.
Pretty. Pretty. Pretty. Pretty good.
6.21 you are a dick. We need less people like you in our industry. Fact is these guys came up with a pretty smart answer to a real brief. It got a hell of a lot of press. End of story.
‘Smart answer’ AND ‘real brief’. Haha you’re funny. Two jokes in one comment.
10.50 – a hell of a lot of press? i havent seen it anywhere except here?!
Can someone explain how the Agency calculated the campaign cost of $950? These charity “costs” always seem to me to reek of disingenuous Agency PR designed to make results sparkle rather than tell a true story, thereby allowing the $XXXX Free Media to $X Spend ratio to look better (as if award winning work was decided on mathematical principles).
12:47 – have you actually looked at the case study? It ran on all major network news shows, NZ Herald, suburban papers, major online news sites… But hey, if you can do better than that for less than $1k then we’ll all look forward to your work being posted on this site – then crapping all over it anonymously.
More press than 6.21 will ever have.
Did you watch the video 12:47, or are you too busy hating?
6:21 – You are a real dickhead. This is such a great idea. If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t have heard about it and certainly wouldn’t be hating (probably because of your overwhelming feeling of self inadequacy) here on this blog. Well done boys!
Should have been a skyline. Do a skid!
Good idea. Bad idea. Whatever. Once again, it’s been done.

Oh yeah, it’s exactly the same as that smashed up van for sale in the AutoTrader. Exactly. Identical. Spookily, eerily similar. It’s not just the execution that is the same, the whole idea is entirely copied.
Apparently hundreds of people were calling up trying to buy the Dodge van despite it being wrapped around the tree. When they called the non-existant number boy were they shocked to hear that it wasn’t actually for sale, it was in fact an ad for road safety.
A couple of people tried to buy the tree too.
Thanks for posting theAutoTrader ad twice. It had twice the impact. Now I’m doubly sure that it has been done before.
Got to love the festive cheer.
Lots of award-eeeee ads on the blog this week though… Mcd’s big bag, antiques roady and this… and nestled below is the Axis call for entries.
Happens every year.
9:17 if you think it’s not the same idea re-skinned, you’re deluded. Now back to your briscoes mailer.
