Y&R promotes creative planner Jason Wells to new role of national creative/ideas director
Y&R has appointed Jason Wells as its new national creative/ideas director. This is a newly created role covering both Auckland and Wellington Y&R offices.
Wells will be responsible for idea generation and leadership in partnership with creative teams in both offices and he will be a key partner for CEO, Jon Ramage and National Planner, Janisa Parag.
Wells has more than 20 years experience in the business in a career spanning client side marketing at DB, account leadership, agency management and most recently as national creative planner for Y&R. He’s worked on some of the agencies biggest and most successful campaigns and is a passionate digital native.
“The future of our business is the creation of ideas that help clients grow. Jason’s appointment reinforces that and is a natural extension of the integrated approach Y&R is well known for – smart, effective work across all channels be they retail, brand or one-to-one.” said Jon Ramage, CEO.
“I’m very excited about the new role and can’t wait to starting dialling up the work”, said Wells. My first priority is some key new hirings for both offices, followed by a renewed focus on truly innovative ideas.”

That’ll fix it.
Hahaha…Y&R are funnier than the Comedy Channel.
The title, National Creative/Ideas Director, is hilarious…
Who writes their material?
Yes 1.48pm…that’ll fix it.
Good stuff Jason. And if you are in Auckland I need a holding midfielder this year.
So sad.
Some key new hirings… like a CD maybe?
Plenty of haters as usual.
Good on you Jase and ignore them all.
WTF? Glad I checked in here before I accepted a job in NZ.
This will have the other agencies trembling!
WTF is a National Creative/Ideas Director or indeed a Digital Native? Come on Y&R get over yourselves.
There was a time when Y&R could have boasted they were well known for smart & effective work across all channels, but those times have passed my friends. So with that, I very much look forward to seeing your new NCID ‘dial up the work’… do you have any accounts left to dial up?
Murray Streets for ECD at Saatchis!
Wellsy is a top man. Congrats fella
Well done Jason.
I love anonymity.
Such a wonderful avenue to say things you wouldn’t have the stones to say in front of anyone.
I once swerved to hit a Kiwi with my car and then I reversed up and ran over it again!
Oh and all the best Mr. Wells.
Congrats Jas, well deserved and a chance to show everyone what’s possible.
I think this is very encouraging news for every suit who ever thought he could write better copy or art direct better than people with actual training and experience.
But seriously, this is just another Titanic deckchair shuffle.
Or, as everyone seems to have been saying since the day he left bring back Ross.
I don’t know Mr Wells but congrats and good on him.
The title National Creative / Ideas Director is a hoot though.
Is there a National non-Creative / Ideas Director? Were they just going to call him National Creative Director before someone realised that name was already taken (in the industry, if not at Y&R)?
I do know Mr Wells and I’m amazed he’s still hanging in there. Maybe waiting until the guy with the big job goes so he can step in?
