Colenso BBO, Auckland behind V’s Paintball Machine campaign: 840 paintball barrels, a huge truck, and a MASSIVE green button
Colenso BBDO, Auckland and V Energy Drink built a massive 840 barreled paintball gun, loaded it up on a truck and let it loose on an unsuspecting city.
With the push of a button they are able to shoot an instant piece of art on any wall of their choosing. Proving, with enough energy, anything is possible.
The website was produced by London-based The Rumpus Room, a division of The Sweet Shop.

And someone to post the original version of the paintball art in 4,3,2…
And NO, it wasn’t copying because the V team took a cool idea and used it to make an AD. Ok. So hopefully that puts what could become a long tedious argument to rest and we can all get back to important stuff like the Guam Advertising Awards which I am sure you all have your entries ready for.
but it’s kinda sad that it is copied. I know that the mythbusters did it.
Those guys are really cool and I’d just feel really lame if I knew I’d ripped them off in such a public manner.
Gay.
I don’t mind if you use the paintball art in a new refreshing way, that’s how new ideas come about – take one idea meld it with another and voila, cool new idea. This unfortunately has try hard written all over it.
Cool idea. But feels a bit like Sony Balls + Sony Paint = 1 silly yellow man on a wall.
All that trouble for one pic. Disappointing.
This could be a winner if everyone at Cannes forgets Livestrong Chalkbot ever happened
This could be a winner if it wasn’t shit
Like all BBDO work, this would be supported by a fantastic awards entry.
I’m so sick of seeing shit like this. If you completely stole an idea, sorry “referenced an existing technology” then why not start your press release with “We took the myth busters episode…”
Bullshit really. Have fun tomorrow spending 8hours on youtube. I’d rather spend that time exercising my brain.
… fffound for that vodafone perspectives thing, then double rainbow and now this Mythbusters rubbish, for the love of god Trawlenso be original.
Take one internet idea. take one client. Mix roughly. ….. this really is bad. It’s not as if the image they left has any relevance to absolutely anything. I feel so bad for the creatives.
I think this is really cool. As a junior this is the kind of work I aspire to. Any tips?
@8:16 You forgot the microwave playing a tune rip also for Vodafone.
What happened to them being the most talented creatives around these parts? Please don’t say they have now become washed up internet rip off merchants. Someone slap them and remind them what they used to be.
Did it work for real though? The editing suggests not really, which would be disappointing.
So did it?
This has far bigger issues than being ripped from youtube.
I like the shot of all the actors standing on Cross Street, looking at the Mercury Lane carpark…. or maybe they were real people who’d just been hanging at Club Sparty.
The guys at geekologie like it.
“This is a video of what appears to be a group of terrorists with a 840 gun paintball rig in the back of a truck that can instantly produce a piece of graffiti in a fraction of a second. It’s reminiscent of when the Mythbusters painted the Mona Lisa with paintballs, except with 260 less guns and much less impressive results. One-upmanship: you’re not very good at it.”
What happened to Bum-cam anyway?
Nice work.
What’s with all the lame work coming from Colenso lately? It feels so advertising and is trying way to hard.
Drippin’ in wack juice
terrible
re comment 9:34. Perhaps the lame work is a reflection in the change of culture of recent times…ignoring what drives the agency, creativity.
