This billboard, via Ogilvy Auckland, was positioned around Auckland Schools to get drivers to slow down.

Ogilvy scams again!
Auckland Transport is their client.
Yeah, totally scam-central. One of those really scammy scams where a made up client – Auckland City – comes to Ogilvy with a brief expecting an ad for it. It doesn’t get much scammier really does it. Shame on Ogilvy, shame. How dare you do an ad for one of your clients. What were you thinking?
Which Auckland school(s) was this positioned around?
Probably auckland ones.
Nice.
12.19 just because they’re your client doesn’t mean you can’t do scam ads for them.
I don’t know any kid who saw a footpath across a road anyway!
Re-read my comment 3.21. It talks about a brief. Unless scamming has been re-defined to include legitimate jobs I think this debate is pointless.
Tell all your friends on the awards juries too.
Dont be haters
4:10 is correct, it’s not a scam. Scams are usually good.
The Ogilvy creative department must be desperate to hold onto the Auckland Council business. It appears to be the only client that they are able to do any half decent work for.
@4:42 jealous much!
I think its a good clean billboard ad, which gets the message across. (PS: @3:55 are you serious?)
4.10 just spoke to my friends on award juries. They said stop wasting your money on entries.
5.47 – herein lies the problem with our two horse town of an ad industry
Whack a Sky, Lotto, TVNZ, or V logo on it and the masses will lap it up and vote the crap out of it. It’s the sad reality of the state of the ad game. Emphasis on game.
Disgruntled? Hell yes.
Who’s a horse?
It is what it is, no more, no less.
And to Anonymous above, you’ll find some of the best work has been done on Sky, Lotto, TVNZ and V, whether you admit it or not.
So speaking of scams, can someone explain to me how Colenso did that massively scammy rubbish bag idea for Auckland Council without having the council as a client, or even knowing about it? Best you point the finger elsewhere dicks.
I think it’s good. And an excellent truth. Sorry.
Not bad at all.
now, now 7.41 no need for name calling.
4.10 that’s great there was a brief, but can you honestly say this ad effectively answered it? Yes it’s a nice insight and is well made, but can you honestly say it will get drivers to slow down? And be honest.
11:28 PM and 1:12 AM, what were you doing on the blog so late?
7.41 – the client wasn’t Auckland City it was ‘Heart of the City’ which is a completely different organisation, and is a client of Colenso.
1.12 – Yes, but is the purpose of advertising to be effective? It’s not anymore. Its purpose is now limited to winning us awards and paying our salaries. Be honest.
Congrats to Ogilvy on keeping the business – well done
Whose a horse – the sister of course!
9.54 you’re an idiot.
7:41 – congratulations on exposing yourself on two levels 1) trying to divert the attention suggests you’re one of the two ‘creatives’ involved. And 2) showing such blatant naivety that you didn’t know ‘Heart of the City’ was a genuine Colenso client suggests you’re, well, blatantly naive. If you want to progress in this industry, I’d suggest you expand your ambitions beyond awards and start understanding your local industry.
I like this ad. Cool idea. Nice fast visual.
I can’t believe this ad has raised an awards debate.
Average.
I want to progress in this industry.
@11.06 Yes Heart of the City was the client. However surely the nice green bags would need to have the Auckland Council logo on them to be picked up otherwise they might well be still sitting there- am i wrong?
It would also be interesting to know who it was that stacked them in a nice orderly row.
With the client list and talented creative guys Ogilvy has, there’s no excuse for the lackluster output. Or are they purposely giving all the creative credit to the two juniors? Maybe they should spend less time in front of the camera and more time giving the suits the rocket they so obviously need.
If the audience was motorists who are reading a billboard to get the message, it would’ve been nicer if the line was centered and just slightly larger to be legible at the high speeds they’re travelling at. Just saying.
Really love this work!
Nice one Ogilvy. From someone who doesn’t work at Ogilvy.
Bet DDB wish they’d done it. They’re probably the knockers on here.
Yet another piece of nice work from Matt and Freddie. Well done fellas.
Who said it’s late where I am?
– the poster formerly known as 11.28
Why all the hating between agencies? Everyones just trying to do their best work.
Have a nice weekend. (Now slag my comment off)
A lot of people like to treat Ogilvy like the industry punching bag for no real reason. I love to put a boot in when Agencies get too chest beaty but this is actually just a nice piece of work by a young team who actually try to look for genuine opportunities in what is a very challenging environment. Is it award winning? (unsure). Is it worth being put on here – yes. It’s a not bad idea, nicely executed and for a change it doesn’t have a massive long write up and half the agency credited.
Well done Matt and Freddie, keep up the good work and keep battling.
You lot make for a miserable bunch of peers. It’s just advertising. This is pretty okay. The rubbish bags were pretty okay, too. Better than the mucky stuff most of us work on 80% of the time, but not something you’d tell your grandchildren about. Good. Move on. Next. Etc.
